Both human and animals alike have keen motherly instincts that kick in when a baby is around. We all have the tendency to want to coddle and comfort our babies by any means necessary.
Making sure they have everything they need to be safe and sound.
This is definitely something that kicks in when we are with our own children, but both humans and animals can also have these instincts kick in regardless of what kind of species we’re dealing with.
That’s why you often hear of dogs playing mommy to other animals around them, including human children.
This adorably precious video shows a dog trying to cover a baby up who is sound asleep in its diaper. The pup is seen nudging the sides of a cozy blanket up and around the sleeping baby to make sure it’s properly covered.
When the dog is satisfied with his its job of covering the baby, the dog walks away.
As soon as the dog walks away from the sleeping baby, the little baby starts to whimper a little a bit.
Maybe the baby misses the dog and would rather cuddle up with the dog than the blanket. We’ll never know, neither of them can talk! This precious little scene was captured on video and was viewed almost eight million times on YouTube.
It must be nice for this parent to have an extra set of paws around the house!
But according to Family Paws, this dog might just be thinking that this baby is a bone or one of their toys.
“Dogs do not do this with their alive puppies. They do this with novel things they want to stash for later or to cover up [the] scent of,” their website reads. “Please always remember that your dog is a DOG and will always act and behave as a dog no matter how good of a dog he is!”
There are several videos circulating the internet where dogs are covering babies up with blankets and Family Paws thinks they are all “misleading.”
“The gentle nudging of the blanket to cover a newborn can be heartwarming but also misleading,” their website reads.
“It is often hard for new parents to remember that their family dog is still a DOG. They are not relating to their baby as a human sibling. This may sound like a simple and obvious point but for many who really want to see the harmony between the new baby and dog sometimes these lines can be blurred.”
Well, it’s probably important to monitor your pets closely when they are around your children but we are not going to let that ruin how insanely adorable this video is. Watch it below.
