Do you remember where you were when Disney’s Frozen came out?
Although not everyone is an equally big fan of the movie (and now Broadway musical), it was definitely a huge hit when it came out in 2013. While parents are probably always made to watch Disney movies with their little ones, Frozen was particularly inspiring to little girls all around the country. Part of it definitely had to do with the powerful female rivalry and friendship between Elsa and Anna, but part of it also had to do with the incredible musical numbers like “Let It Go.”
As it turns out, though, it wasn’t just humans who got into the Frozen fandom…
That’s because there’s at least one cute little doggy who can’t get enough of Frozen, either.
The dog we’re talking about is little Oakley the Australian Shepherd—but let’s back up. It all started when Brittany Maroney, Oakley’s mom, loaded a video of her little pup onto YouTube. Maroney thought the clip was cute and wanted to share some footage of her dog’s “favorite song,” but nobody expected it to get more than seven million views.
Still, once you watch it, it’s easy to see why it did!
As the clip begins, Oakley can be seen sleeping in the backseat of a car.
The camera is on him as Charli XCX’s “Boom Clap” plays in the background. Although that’s as upbeat and infectious a song as any other, Oakley doesn’t seem to budge. Shortly after that, the radio changes and “Let It Go” from Frozen starts to play.
It’s right around that point that Oakley’s little ears start to perk up.
From the very first notes on piano, it’s clear that Oakley knows exactly what song is playing.
Before anything else happens, Oakley starts gradually twitching his head back and forth to the beat like he’s dancing! After that, he sits fully up as the song begins in earnest. As soon as the words start, Oakley decides he’s going to join right in.
Before long, Oakley leans his head back and starts howling right along with the music!
As the chorus comes, Oakley gets ready to belt along—and he only gets louder and more soulful.
Shortly after that, the radio changes back to “Boom Clap” again and Oakley seems to immediately lose interest. He lets out a little yawn, gets cozy and lays down once more. As we said, we knew that these songs were popular with kids around the world, but we had no idea that dogs could get in on the action as well!
Don’t worry Oakley, we totally get it!
Although Oakley used to have his own Facebook and Instagram pages, those have since been taken down.
If you’re a fan of this adorable little doggy, your best bet is going to be to keep watching this clip over and over again. Maybe if we all study this closely enough, we can teach our own dogs to sing along to Disney songs as well, right? Well, we can dream, at least.
Congratulations to Oakley on his new-found viral fame! Check out the full video below:
