A dog barking is the musical equivalent of an out of tune trumpet blasting the same note on repeat. Anybody who has ever tried to get some R&R while their neighbor’s dog barked relentlessly at seemingly nothing for hours on end will testify to that. It’s an outrageous sound, and it can quickly turn a tranquil space into a sonic nightmare, a cacophony of chaos.
Some dogs however, are more musical than others…
I present to you, one such doggo. Buddy Mercury.
That’s right. Buddy by day, Buddy Mercury by…also day because he’s definitely asleep at night. And too right, because he has earned it being such a good musical boy. The name is no doubt a reference to Freddie Mercury, renowned for being the front-man for legendary British rock band Queen. Only, instead of a charismatic rock legend, he’s a loveable pooch with skills on the keys, and with his voice.
Don’t stop him now!
Because Buddy Mercury is a rising star! He delicately plays a note with his little paw, and bays beautifully somehow in-tune. If that’s not pure unleashed talent, then I don’t know what is. There could be a bright future for this dog in the music industry, especially doing jingles for dog food. But then, maybe that’s dreaming too low for this talented little guy.
Who taught him how to play piano anyway?
He seems to actually enjoy playing the piano too. Sometimes he plays a few notes in succession, before he gets the one he wants to sing along to.
You do have to wonder if his parents taught him to get involved with the piano, or if they just walked out into the living room to find him holding his own jazz recital. Imagine finding Johann Sebastian Bark doing his thing tickling the ivories.
Look at his focused expression as he finds his pitch.
He’s tuned right into it, complete focus, heart in the music. Or is the music in his heart? His song is sad, somehow melancholy. It seems to speak to the human (or dog) condition and asks the question- “Do we chase our tails because we actually want them, or do we just enjoy the chase itself?”
Either way, the music cannot be contained in this musical mutt.
Surely some big music mogul has approached him by now, with chops like that! Listen carefully to the radio for the next big song from Adele (feat. Buddy Murcury), it’s bound to be a hit.
When he’s finally done, his dad is oh so proud.
Look at Buddy’s gracious little face. The only thing this dog loves more than expressing the music in his soul, is pleasing his owner. Well his owner must be very pleased now, with all the internet infamy he’s achieved!
