Meet Maggie, a lovable pooch with an awe-inspiring zest for life!

Born on the streets of Lebanon, Maggie’s early years were anything but easy.

At just five years old, she was discovered on the roadside, chained and riddled with 17 bullet holes.

As if that wasn’t enough, four of those bullets had struck her eyes, leaving her blind, and her ear had been cruelly severed.

Enter the Wild at Heart Foundation, a British animal rescue organization that swooped in to save the day.

They nursed Maggie back to health and introduced her to one of their regular foster parents, Kasey Carlin.

Kasey was instantly smitten with Maggie, captivated by her indomitable spirit and resilience.

“She’s just a normal dog,” Kasey shared with the BBC.

“She gets around, she runs, she goes off lead…And she’s brilliant.

I know she knows she’s blind, but she doesn’t act blind at all.”

After spending a few transformative weeks with Maggie, Kasey realized she couldn’t bear to part ways with her.

So, she did what any dog lover would do—she officially adopted Maggie.

In her new home, Maggie thrived.

She became Kasey’s right-hand pup in managing her doggy daycare and reveled in the freedom of running around in the backyard.

She also found a companion in her Husky sister, Mishka.

Kasey was committed to helping Maggie live her best life, so she taught her a series of commands to navigate the world safely.

Commands like “Stop,” “Left,” “Right,” “Step Up,” and “Step Down” became part of Maggie’s vocabulary, allowing her to walk off-leash with confidence.

Maggie’s keen sense of hearing and smell also played a crucial role in helping her get around.

Recognizing Maggie’s innate ability to connect with people, Kasey had an epiphany: Why not get Maggie certified as a therapy dog?

As expected, Maggie aced the test and became a certified therapy dog. “Maggie is now a registered therapy dog with @underdog_international.

She and I will speak to schools and work hands-on with youngsters,” Kasey proudly announced.

But the story doesn’t end there.

Kasey took to Instagram to share Maggie’s journey with the world.

Through photos and videos, she documented Maggie’s day-to-day adventures, aiming to show just how incredible special needs pets can be.

“There are so many dogs that are looked over because they’re disabled,” Kasey lamented.

“And being a rescue dog, I think she can do a lot of good to show people what exactly they’re capable of.”
