Dogs never fail to make us happy.

Whether it’s intentional or because of something unexpected, the innocence of dogs makes every experience precious.

Michel Caron posted a video last 2009. It was all about his dog, Biscuit, who made more than a million people happy.

After playing and rubbing against the couch, all his fur stood straight up because of the static electricity.

What causes static in your furbabies?

Seeing your dog’s fur stand up because of static electricity is something that looks like a scene from a superhero movie.

Like a dog gaining powers and discovering it for the first time.

Well, this may only apply if you have a super active imagination. However, it’s always a surprise for some pet owners.

What causes our furbabies to have too much static electricity?

Static electricity happens when there is a buildup of electrons on a specific object.

Now, once the object that was charged with electrons comes in contact with another object of a different charge, the electrons are then transferred from one to the other.

The moving of the electrons causes the static shock that we feel.

As for our pets, their hair follicles would repel each other as the positive charge builds up on their coat.

This usually happens in locations with low humidity, such as in heated homes during cold weather.

Biscuit, the static dog

As for our adorable pup, Biscuit, the cause of the static was him playing with the couch.

Little Biscuit rubbed and played with the couch, which caused almost all his fur to stand straight up!

The video starts as someone removes a small blanket, revealing a very adorable and funny Biscuit.

Mr. Static pup looked so confused as the people around him laughed so hard.

Sorry, little one, you’re too funny and cute.

4 Ways to reduce static on your pet’s fur

As funny as it may seem, we still want to know what we can do to prevent our dog’s hairs from repelling with each other.

Here are four easy ways to reduce static on your dog’s fluffy fur.

1) Switch to metal grooming tools

If you’re used to using plastic grooming tools, you can try metal ones. Why does this work? You see, plastic tools insulate electrical currents while metal conducts it.

Ionic pet bruises emit positive ions that not only prevent static reactions but also clean your pet’s fur.

2) Supplement with Omega 3

Fish oil supplements can give your dog many benefits, including a beautiful coat inside and out. A beautiful and healthy coat will react less to static.

3) Try grooming sprays

You can also try spraying water or grooming spray on your dog’s fur.

This is one of the cheapest yet most effective ways to prevent your dog’s fur from reacting to static electricity.

4) Use a humidifier

You can also purchase a humidifier to add moisture to your home.

A humidifier can change your dog’s reaction to static.
