Dogs are loving and loyal to their humans, but do they really need us? This dog gets around the city just fine without her human. You’ll never guess how she uses her newfound independence.
Meet Eclipse, a three-year-old pup who lives just outside of Seattle with her owner, Jeff Young. Jeff and Eclipse like to ride the bus to the dog park together. One day, while Jeff was finishing a cigarette, Eclipse became too excited to wait for him. Jeff would never have expected what she did next.
As Jeff stood on the sidewalk, Eclipse took off without him and got on the bus – all by herself. Jeff was in shock as he watched his pup ride away without him. He caught the next bus and found Eclipse waiting for him at the dog park. The dog has become more and more independent ever since.
By now Eclipse is used to riding the bus alone. She even carries her own bus pass on her collar! She can easily recognize the stop to her favorite park, and she is best friends with all the local bus drivers. Even passengers recognize her on their morning commutes!
Seeing Eclipse alone on the bus can be pretty surprising for visitors in town. Strangers often call Jeff, wondering if Eclipse is a lost dog. Whenever this happens, Jeff assures the concerned passenger that his pup knows what she’s doing.
The charming dog is never afraid to make new friends, and her company is a welcome treat for other passengers. When she has her pick of the seats, Eclipse prefers to look out the window. She may be independent, but she is still just a pup at heart.
Eclipse has gained fame thanks to her solo adventures on the bus. She has her own Facebook page and debuted in a Seattle Metro Trip Planner video. She even has her own fan page! Known as “Ecliptomaniacs,” these dog-lovers can’t get enough of their favorite commuter.
Eclipse may be an expert at navigating her way around the city, but she prefers to keep it simple. Her favorite dog part is only a few stops away from Jeff’s house. Eclipse shares her love for hugs, off-leash walks, and full moons on her Facebook page.
