Anyone who has been quarantined with a dog during lockdown is probably feeling incredibly lucky. Not only do dogs make the best companions and are ideal for banishing feelings of loneliness, but they’re also incredibly loving and are able to form great friendships.
In South Boston, a labradoodle had formed a particularly special bond with one of his neighbors. But when his neighbor fell sick, the pooch was separated from his friend for months.
In an emotional moment, the pair were reunited this month, and the whole thing was captured on camera!
Paul befriended Chris back when he was just a puppy, and since then, they’ve often met up outside their local Cumberland Farms for treats and a few cuddles.
Chris is apparently a neighborhood favorite for all of the pooches in the area. This sweet man has a true adoration for each dog and always makes sure to provide them with plenty of treats.
However, when Chris fell ill, Paul was unable to see his best friend, and the poor little guy was probably so confused! We bet every dog in the neighborhood was eagerly waiting for their favorite neighbor to return. When that moment finally arrived last week, Paul’s owner captured the adorable moment that the pair were reunited and shared it onto Instagram in an emotional post.
In the video, which has since gained over 46,000 views, Paul’s owner explains the story in text as the pair make their way to Chris for the first time in months. She said:
‘Since Paul was a puppy he became best friends with my neighbor who waits for him every morning at Cumberland Farms with dog treats. At the start of the pandemic, our neighbor became sick and we haven’t seen him in months. This morning he was back and they were reunited.’
In the emotional video, you can hear the neighbor shouting, “Paul!” as the labradoodle pulls on his leash and becomes more and more excited.
The pair round the corner and Paul and Chris finally get to have their reunion. It’s a truly beautiful moment.
Paul’s tail is wagging a mile-a-minute, and in his excitement, he leaps up into the elderly man’s arms. But Chris doesn’t seem to mind. “I’ve missed you!” he tells Paul, a huge smile on his face. Behind them is a whole selection of dog treats waiting on the wall, and Chris says, “I’ve lined them all up for you!”
When asked how he’s been feeling since his illness, Chris replies, “Yes I’m getting much better.” We’re glad to hear it!
Since her video went viral, Paul’s owner shared a post thanking everyone for their love. She said:
‘Yesterday we were so excited and surprised by the outpour of love and support for our dear neighbor, Chris. He is a neighborhood staple and spends his mornings ensuring all the puppies of the neighborhood are greeted with a treat and a smile on their morning walks. He was thrilled to see our clip went viral. When asked if he needed anything, he simply responded, more dog treats for the neighborhood puppies. If you want to send him treats, dm me.
