If your car is stuck in thigh-high water but managed to escape, one of the unlikeliest pictures you’d paint is a dog pushing your car to safety.
But that was exactly what happened to these fortunate people when they found themselves trapped in rising floodwaters. Earlier this August, Scotland was battered by heavy rains that a lot of places were washed by severe flooding.
Sidewalks became small islands of respite, but shortly after, they were submerged too. Cars had to stop in the middle of the road because they couldn’t tell how deep the water was from where they’re sitting.

It was during this intense shower when Lori Gillies found two people stuck in their car.
You can’t even see the wheels of the car and the water still kept on rising.
“Puck and I were out on our usual walk and there was a car that was stuck in the water. There were two women inside and I went down to give them a hand.” Gillies shared with the Daily Record.
Then, together with her springer spaniel dog named Puck, they waded through the flood and made their way to the back of the car. With everything she’s got, Gillies pushed the car forward. However, the car didn’t budge. All the while, Puck swam closely behind.
Gillies then walked to the front and signaled the driver to release the brakes. When she pushed the car once more, the vehicle started moving. The progress was slow but steady.
Every step that Gillies took helped the car emerge from the water.
Then, when the water became shallow enough for Puck to walk through, Gillies and a bystander watching the scene witnessed something hilariously adorable.
It was a small crack of sunshine through the gray skies, and the moment garnered over 300,000 views.
Puck placed his front paws on the rear bumper and started pushing the car with her owner. He may be small, but his effort was a hundred times bigger.
“We’ve never really had flooding as bad as that there. Puck was just swimming next to me and I took my phone out to video him and then he started pushing it.” Gillies narrated to the Daily Record. “Once the handbrake was off it was just a quick push or two and then it started rolling.”
Puck might’ve thought that his kind-hearted owner was having a hard time getting the car out of the water and he didn’t hesitate to lend a paw.
His efforts were greatly rewarded, however.
“Puck got a very nice extra big dinner last night. He got meat with gravy and biscuits with extra meat.” Gillies shared with the Daily Record.
If you spend your day pushing a car with two souls on board, you surely deserve a kingly meal for a job well done. And it was something that Puck surely got.
Gillies shared that Puck has always been an active dog. He grew up with horses on a farm so he’s always running around. They also trek in their free time so pushing a car this hefty is easy for a puppy like him.
