When you’re only small, the vacuum cleaner can seem like the scariest thing in the world. Us adults understand the noise that comes out from the vacuum and accept it for what it is, but to a little baby, a vacuum cleaner can seem like a big, scary monster- so it’s quite natural for them to be scared.
Our pets might also have a fear of the dreaded vacuum, though this could be for slightly different reasons. Dogs can hear nearly twice as many frequencies as humans, and they can also hear sounds from four times further away – so if you think the noise of the vacuum sounds loud to you, just imagine how loud it must sound to your pet!
So if a baby and a dog were both around a vacuum cleaner at the same time, have you ever wondered who would look after who?
Well, we came across a video that tests this theory, and in this case, it’s the dog who looks after the baby! Despite being pretty obviously scared, the brave pooch protects his little human sibling, and the whole adorable moment was caught on camera.
YouTube user mgibison was vacuuming his house when he came across an adorable sight. His baby became frightened of the noise from the vacuum and wanted to feel safe around the loud noise.
Heart-warmingly, the little girl headed straight in the direction of the family’s pet husky, who was cowering in a safe corner to get away from the scary noise.
Once she’d toddled over to the husky, the little girl put her arms around the dog’s neck and snuggled up to him. Despite being scared himself, the sweet dog knew that he had to be brave, so he stood his ground and protected his little sibling from the scary noise. The dad managed to catch the sweet moment on camera, which he shared onto YouTube back in 2013, along with the caption:
“My 11 month old daughter running to her husky for protection.”
The sweet video now has over 7.9 million views, as well as thousands of likes and comments from people who just can’t get enough of the adorable moment.
It really is the cutest thing how the dog protects the baby even when he is so clearly scared himself, and people took to the comments to share their love for the heartwarming video.
One person said:
“That’s adorable. That husky was like: ‘Don’t worry, little hooman. Doggo’s gonna protect you from that evil sucking machine.'”
Another added:
“The truth is, the husky is just as scared of the vacuum. But he’s being brave for his little human.”
Someone else picked up on the moment that the little girl almost trips over the dog’s leg, saying:
“She’s so careful to not step on his feet. How cute is that? The dog’s like ‘I know man, that thing is scary’ lol.”
This video just goes to prove how big dogs’ hearts are, and we’d be confident to bet that these two went onto have an amazing bond with each other!
