Siblings have an interesting relationship. On one hand, no one will ever understand your childhood like your brother or sister. On the other hand, they’ve also known you for so long that they’ve found the exact ways to get under your skin. Whether it be hogging the remote control, being a total slob, or insulting your new haircut, siblings tend to zero in on our weak points with the precision of a laser beam. It turns out, however, that this also goes for the animal world!
Like humans, animals all have individual personalities and a sense of humor. In this video, we’re introduced to a cheeky dog named Jack and his baby brother Archie. As is the case with most siblings, Jack really gets a kick out of riling up his little bro. He has learned the things that bug Archie and has no problem taking advantage of them for a good laugh— or an amazing video, as you’ll soon see.
Sam, Archie and Jack’s owner, posted a hilarious clip of her dogs that quickly went viral.
Alongside the video, Sam explained:
“Jack has discovered that by playing dead he can scare the sh*t out of Archie.”
In the 15-second clip, you see Jack playing dead to mess with his little brother.
The dog lays on his back with his paws in the air, not moving an inch. His tongue hangs out the side of his mouth as Archie looks at him with concern.
Seeing his brother lying motionless on the floor draws an adorable reaction from Archie.
The worried dog barks anxiously, leaning down to check his brother before turning to his owner with big eyes.
As Sam tries to comfort Archie, the dog continues to whine, and bark and howl.
Jack, ever the trickster, keeps up the charade and doesn’t move an inch.
Since being uploaded to Twitter, Sam’s video has been viewed more than 2.2 million times.
Jack is the ultimate troll, totally getting a kick out of driving his little brother mad. In fact, Archie was so good at playing dead, some people were convinced something was wrong with him, prompting Sam to later post another video that showed the two dogs playing.
The video appeals to a few select audiences: those totally amused by Jack’s cheeky antics, and those who sympathize with Archie’s adorable show of love.
Playing dead to protest injustices (or to simply annoy your brother) seems to be a common practice in the canine world.
Last year, I covered a story about this hilarious dog that tried to play dead so that he wouldn’t have to leave the park. If you’re interested, you can check it out here.
After watching this video, I’d love for your opinions. Which of the doggie brothers is your favorite? Cheeky Jack with his prankster personality or adorable Archie with his heart of gold?
