Dogs enjoy being pet by their owners. They even have specific spots that they want you to pet for as long as they want. Sometimes, your touch could help soothe your dogs when they are a bit upset or stressed.
Dogs love being petted, and it brings them joy. Some pups try to spread that joy by petting their owners or even other dogs.
Here’s Ruby, a friendly dog who likes to pet her fellow dogs.
This canine loves receiving pets, and she insists on petting other dogs too. At the Den Doggy Daycare located in Burlington, Ontario, we can find Ruby, a German short-haired pointer who loves to place her paws on top of other dogs’ heads.
Ruby is a regular at the daycare along with her brother, Miles. A woman named Alanah Lorraine, who brings her dog Lexy to the same daycare, was the first to notice Ruby’s peculiar actions. She started capturing these moments on her phone.
One of the caretakers also noticed Ruby’s funny behavior.
“She usually starts with her brother Miles and as the other dogs in daycare start to chill out, she will get to work on them as well. Miles doesn’t seem interested in giving pets, just receiving,” Spencer, who works at the daycare, told BoredPanda.
He added that it might be because she was trying to get Miles’ attention, and then she started going to her other friends as well.
The dogs didn’t seem to mind Ruby petting them.
Although sometimes they would react confused, eventually, they might have seen it as an act of playing. One dog that she petted even rolled around, hoping that Ruby would play more with him.
The other dogs just let her do whatever, and it doesn’t even bother them one bit.
The TikTok clip instantly went viral and grabbed the attention of some famous dog Twitter accounts.
Alanah made an effort to compile and edit short clips of Ruby petting other dogs into one TikTok video. The clip reached 640,000 views on TikTok. Some famous dog Twitter accounts, like “We Rate Dogs,” shared the clip as well, and it reached 7.7 million views on their page.
The people just could not stop watching Ruby’s adorable habit of petting other dogs. Alanah shared that she never thought it would go viral to this extent.
“We are so grateful to see everyone enjoying the video Alanah made and now everyone gets to experience the happiness dogs like Ruby bring us every day,” Spencer told BoredPanda.
The paws that put a smile on your face.
It’s always cute when our dogs tap us with their paws and stare at us with their adorable doggy eyes. Putting their paws on you or to other dogs have different meanings. It might be that they are trying to get your attention, wanting a treat, signifying playtime with other dogs, or simply showing their love and affection towards you.
In Ruby’s case, her act of petting might be just her trying to befriend every dog that she meets and hoping they will respond back in a kind manner. No matter what the reason, the fact that Ruby loves petting more than to be pet has made the world smile a little bigger.
