Dog experts have long carried out studies on whether these four legged fur balls can sense a baby in a woman’s womb.
There are countless videos of dogs reacting to pregnant women.
Even AKC says that,
“dogs have 60 times as many smell receptors as humans, and 40 times as much brainpower dedicated to smell, allowing them to differentiate 30,000 to 100,000 aromas. Because a huge part of a dog’s brain is devoted to analyzing odors, dogs are able to pick up on different scents resulting from chemical changes, cancer, insulin levels, bombs, drugs, a woman’s menstrual cycle, and even pregnancy.“
Dogs have an amazing sense of smell and are really intelligent animals.
Here’s another canine, who I suspect, knows something’s up with mom.
His eyes tell him mom moves differently.
Her scent has surely changed, and if those ears are detecting a tiny heartbeat, well then…
He rests his chin on her tummy but with a strange, curious look on his face.
It’s like he’s trying to figure out what’s going on with mom. And if the baby is moving inside, the dog’s got to be wondering about that weird sensation under his chin!
A viewer named April Pendley had a little story to share in the comments section. She goes,
“When my aunt was pregnant my chihuahua would lay with its head on her stomach all the time. (I lived with her at the time.) After my cousin was born, the dog would lay right beside him protecting him. We swear the pup could hear my cousin in her tummy and just kept on being as close as possible to him after he was born.❤️”
Now that’s a testament to dogs sensing pregnancies!

Wag Walking has this to say regarding dogs and pregnant women,
“Though a dog can’t fully grasp the concept of a new member in the family in nine months, they can sense physiological changes far earlier than humans can. Because dogs can hear about 100,000 times better than humans and can hear at an ultrasonic range, this means they’re likely to be the first to know when it comes to human pregnancy.”
Dogs are perceptive. A change in their behavior would probably mean they know.
