Coby lives with his mom, Alyssa, in an upper-floor apartment in California. They have a small balcony where he sits outside on his mini-couch.
“Coby is always out there. He is always out there watching every day,” Alyssa shared. “He loves watching everyone out there that goes by.”

He was sitting outside on this balcony, on his couch, when he first “met” their neighbor across the street.
Sherwin lives across the street from Coby and Alyssa. He didn’t notice Coby because he was focused on his FaceTime call with his friends.
Sherwin only found out because Alyssa took a video of Coby watching Sherwin. She posted it on TikTok and it reached more than 200,000 views.
His friend showed it to him and asked if that was really Sherwin, and yes, it was him!
Sherwin decided to reply with his own TikTok video.
He made a sign that said “Hi Coby and TikTok!” and placed it on his window so Coby can see it.
“I was reminded of my dog back home. I was just so excited to see him every day and be able to interact with him,” Sherwin said.
Sherwin wanted to do more and asked himself what he can do next.
He was going to buy Coby toys! And Sherwin wanted to make it more fun to send the toys over to Coby than just sending the package to them or handing it over.
Sherwin worked with Alyssa to set up a drawstring line that connects his window to their balcony.
He uses this line to send Coby different toys to play with. Coby gets so excited while he waits for the toy to get to him.
“Seeing that excitement was just everything,” Sherwin added.
Sherwin has sent him a stuffed rotisserie chicken, a giant squid, and even a beer bottle. When Coby got the beer, Sherwin opened a real one on his end so he and Coby can have a toast.
They mostly talked the way they met, through Coby and Alyssa’s balcony and Sherwin’s balcony. But one day, they decided to meet face-to-face.
Finally, Coby will get to hang out with his new best friend, Sherwin.
But unfortunately, Coby and Alyssa were moving places (to a house with a big balcony!) and Alyssa thought it could be good for Coby before they left.
Sherwin thought it was a great idea and they met in person and in dog. And they had the best time!
“When I actually met him, I was like, ‘Hey, look what I got!’ Seeing him enjoying these toys, it was awesome,” Sherwin said. “It was like we had known each other for years. I’d say Coby and I are best friends… That’s the best part about it.”
A lot of people were rooting for Sherwin and Alyssa to get together, but they’re forgetting one part…
