Some dogs might try to chase and chomp at butterflies they see fluttering by.

But not Milo.

The 2-year-old Nova Scotia duck tolling retriever allows these butterflies to peacefully exist as they are.

That’s why they can always be found using Milo and a landing pad.

They must be able to sense how gentle of a soul Milo is because they just flock to him.

“He is always patient when they land on him,” Milo’s mom, Jean Bennett, told The Dodo. “He sees their process with me, from baby caterpillars to chrysalis then to butterflies. He knows they are our friends. He loves hanging out with the butterflies. We check the butterflies every morning.”

Milo will sit there with a butterfly on his head until it’s ready to fly away.

And no matter how many butterflies Milo sees, he’s always completely entranced by them.

“We had millions of painted lady butterflies that migrated through our garden,” Bennett said.

“It was like a cloud of butterflies coming though. He just kept looking up at them in wonder. Looking back and forth so fast to not to miss any!”

Milo’s love for the butterflies actually ended up going viral.

Milo’s humans posted a video on Twitter of Milo with a crown of butterflies on his head.

That video was shared with the We Rate Dogs Twitter page and ended up being viewed more than 2 million times.

Milo has also stepped into the role of an environmental activist.

He has more than 33,000 followers on Instagram who are inspired by his gentle relationship with nature.

He even has his own calendar coming out to encourage people to raise their own butterflies and keep the species strong.

“Milo is going to have his own butterfly calendar coming out soon with tips on how you can raise them yourself,” his parents said.

The multitalented pup also has his own YouTube show “Drooling for Treats” where his mom tells viewers how to make their own dog-safe treats. Milo loves his granola bars and peanut butter doughnuts.
