Moose is a Golden Retriever who lives in Michigan with his family – and he’s a very, very good boy.
Of course, being as handsome as Moose, it’s no surprise that he was famous before this whole mailman thing came to light. In fact, the two-year-old pup has an Instagram following of over 21k that loves to watch his daily antics.
Moose has a human family that — at the moment — consists of his human parents and a cat brother named Mosby. But he’s about to have a human baby brother as well, which he seems somewhat aware of.
But until the baby is born, the biggest thing going on in Moose’s life right now is the arrival of a new mailman a few weeks back.
Meghan Gruszynski, Moose’s owner, posted a video in late January showing off their sweet relationship. Apparently, the two have a daily ritual in which Moose first waits patiently for the mailman to come up the walk.
With a short greeting jump, Moose then sniffs around his feet while wagging his tail excitedly, just to make sure it’s really him.
After another jump, the two hug it out and Moose gets lots of ear scratches from his favorite visitor.
It’s just so darn sweet!
Moose gets LOTS of love from the mailman, who is no doubt telling him what a good boy he is as they gaze into each other’s eyes.
This is a serious bromance brewing. Moose is so happy to see the mailman — and the feeling is clearly mutual.
Of course, our postal service workers have a lot of work to do in a day and a lot of homes to visit, so the mailman can’t exactly dawdle.
But he does make sure it’s a warm reunion and that Moose knows he’s special before putting the dog’s paws back on the ground and heading back to work.
Moose could do this all day, obviously — but Moose doesn’t have a job.
When Gruszynski first noticed the new friendship, she knew she had to record some of their daily greetings.
“It was adorable,” she told The Dodo. “I loved how much he loved our boy and loved how much Moose loved saying hi to him.”
He’s also pretty careful not to let Moose jump too much (though the dog can hardly contain himself with he sees his pal).
For the most part, he pets him on the ground, giving him some good shoulder rubs.
The mailman is clearly a dog-lover, and Moose’s mom eventually realized just why he was so happy to greet the sweet dog each day.
“I’ve come to find out our mailman’s dog recently passed away,” Gruszynski said. “He loves how much love Moose gives him every time he is out on his route.”
Speaking of love, the two even had a special Valentine’s Day visit and Moose got some treats from his best pal! That’ll certainly sweeten any friendship with a dog!
Now that upwards of 50k people are watching each of their videos and Moose’s mom manages to record them about once a week, the mailman has been kind enough to say hello to everyone watching.
In a special video, he brought a series of signs with him to say hello and “thank you for all the love” to Moose’s fans.
We’re head over heels for this pair!
Moose’s mom said that the pup will try to greet substitute mailmen as well, but that they tend not to return the attention (which is fair).
It looks like there’s not much standing in the way of Moose and his favorite mailman’s friendship.
“He’s our mailman ’til he retires, so it should be fun watching their love,” Moose’s mom assured us.
