Most parents would love some help around the house.

And Lori is lucky enough to get some help.

But it isn’t from one of her human family members. It’s from her dog Anya.

Anya just loves helping mom out with chores around the house whether it’s helping with laundry, straightening up, or doing the dishes.

It started with Anya following mom around the house when she would do laundry.

“She would always stick her head in the dryer when I was doing laundry and then one day she just started taking the laundry out and handing it to me,” Lori told The Dodo.

From there, Anya moved on to other chores like picking up items on the floor and putting them on the coffee table or in the trash bin.

“Anything I’m doing, she just wants to help out,” Lori says. “If I open the dishwasher she’ll hand me a dish, if I’m taking out the garbage she tries to take it out of my hand.”

Anya even helps with bringing in the groceries.

“I was bringing in groceries one day, she just grabbed a bag and followed me with a bag. She just naturally wants to help out,” Lori says.

But Anya’s favorite household task is taking care of the new cat.

Lori’s husband found a kitten living in a dumpster at his car wash.

Lori couldn’t allow that so they caught the kitten and brought her home.

The kitten, who they named Munchie, was very nervous and scared of her new surroundings. She was very leery of being in a house after being a wild cat.

Anya, however, wasn’t shy at all. She couldn’t wait to meet Munchie.

“There’s a kitty door going into the basement and Anya would just sit at that kitty door looking through just staring at her,” Lori said.

When Anya was allowed to check out Anya’s crate in the basement, Anya wouldn’t leave the side of the crate.

Anya and Munchie were gradually introduced and Munchie finally emerged from the basement to hang out at the top of the stairs to get to know Anya better.

“She had a shoestring that she loved to play with and then one day, Anya just picked up the shoestring and started literally playing with her,” Lori said.

“Anya kind of helped us to break the ice with her. She kind of is the one that helped Munchie to make that adjustment from being downstairs in the basement to being with the family.”

Now Munchie is super comfy in her new home where she and Anya are best buddies and love to play and tease each other.

“Anya’s always got an eye out watching over her. I get so emotional when I think about it but Anya is truly an angel. It’s just moving to see little Munchie with her. It’s remarkable to see daily what she does,” says Lori.
