Blossom thought she was placed in a loving home, but when the going got tough Blossom got dropped.

“Blossom here. The people I thought were my family dropped me at a scary place called a shelter,” a post on the Westie & Scottie Rescue Houston reads. “These nice people rescued me and are taking care of me and said I am safe now.”

When Blossom was surrendered she was found to have parasites. She also had something else living inside of her.

“They also said I have worms in my heart and lungs and it could have been prevented with a simple monthly pill,” the Facebook post reads. “They also said I have something else growing inside me called puppies. They said that could have been prevented, too. Guess I will be here for a while until all the parasites are gone.”

Though Blossom could be cured of her worms, her rescuers would have to wait to administer treatment until after she gave birth and finished nursing her babies, according to InspireMore.

Finally, Blossom gave birth to her beautiful litter of three puppies named Bluebell, Begonia, and Buttercup.

Unfortunately, both Bluebell and Begonia died after suffering an infection that formed in the womb. Like most mothers who lose children, Blossom was inconsolable.

But then a miraculous coincidence occurred. The rescue organization came across a litter of eight newborn puppies that were thrown from a car window with only six of them surviving.

“As Blossom tried to adjust, another pack of puppies were rescued roadside without a mama,” Westie & Scottie Rescue Houston’s Facebook page read. “With dogtor’s approval, we introduced them and Blossom has claimed them as her own. Please keep this little family in your prayers as they work to survive such a tenuous start.”

Like magic, Blossom snapped out of her depression and into supermom mode to care for the new pups.

According to Maggie Escriva, who was caring for Blossom at the time, the mamma dog took one look at the baby puppies and “climbed into the bed and started cleaning and feeding them.”

The puppies were even named as flowers in honor of their new mom.

“Tomorrow marks one week since Reed, Ash, Forest, Meadow, Petal, and Fern joined Buttercup in Blossom’s little garden!” the rescue organization reported. “As you can see from this video when they met, they were meant to be hers. We are grateful to everyone involved in rescuing this little family so they will be safe, warm, and dry in the rainy week ahead.”

Once the puppies were old enough to survive on their own, the rescue organization was able to adopt all of them.

“I find it very inspiring to see a beautiful creature like Blossom suffer such a heartbreaking loss and turn her full attention to caring for needy puppies, saving their lives,” Maggie said, according to InspireMore. “Blossom is teaching us that the best way to heal is to help others.”

Yes, mamma Blossom is surely an inspiration.
