Surveyor Mati Lillo had grown used to being alone with nature while taking measurements of a rural area in southern Chile.
Until one day when he wasn’t.
There were others out there.
When Lillo looked across a dirt road he saw a flock of sheep and their leader.
Leading the flock was a little black and white dog, watching over them and ensuring they were safe.
“Obviously, he is a very skillful pup,” Lillo told The Dodo.
This was more accurate than Lillo realized at that moment.
When the dog walked toward Lillo, the sheep followed.
But they seemed to stall when they spotted the stranger.
That’s when the doggy got right to work.
The dog marched right up to Lillo and made a gesture to him.
It was almost as if he was saying, “Would you mind moving, sir?”
Kind of like he was trying to herd Lillo off the road so his sheep could pass.
Lillo was more than happy to oblige, but not without conversing with the adorable dog for a bit.
“My mom taught me to treat animals well and love them in all their forms,” Lillo said.
“Animals express themselves, same as people. It’s up to us to understand and appreciate that.”
The little dog appears to be a Border Collie, which the American Kennel Club (AKC) says is an “amazing breed” that are “remarkably bright workaholic[s].”
This dog definitely has those traits of a Border Collie.
Since Border Collies have so much energy, it needs to be exercised.
Border Collie owners who don’t exercise their dogs might have a little problem on their hands.
While Border Collies have boundless energy when it comes to getting the job done, they love to relax and cuddle at the end of the day.
These athletic dogs are medium in size and about 18 to 22 inches tall.
They have a keen “herding” which is said to be the “hallmark” of their breed.
They are among the most agile, balanced, and durable dog breeds.
“The intelligence, athleticism, and trainability of Borders have a perfect outlet in agility training. Having a job to perform, like agility or herding or obedience work’¿is key to Border happiness,” the AKC says.
Lillo’s video of this Border Collie on the job was viewed more than 2.3 million times on his TikTok page.
“He’s like please move, so cute! God is great animals and humans can communicate without any words!” one TikTok commenter wrote.
“I’m dying of love, but I also congratulate the young man for paying attention and respect to the little animals on his way,” said another.
This Border Collie turned Lillo’s lonely work day into a very entertaining one.
In turn, he ended up bringing joy to millions all over the world.
