The Covid-19 pandemic was a hard time for everybody, especially those who live alone.

Spending months on end with no one to talk to would take its toll on anybody, so some people decided to do something about it.

Many people decided that adopting a pet would be a great way to make it through whatever was still yet to come.

Hundreds of thousands of animals were adopted, and a whopping 40% of that number was dog adoptions.

However, since restrictions have eased and life is getting back to normal, the number of adoptions is dropping and the number of surrenders and rescues is increasing.

Two of these rescues were an adorable pair of pit bulls named Branda and Linda.

Though they were not thought to have been together on the streets, the pair came into the Minneapolis Humane Society at the same time.

They struck up a real connection almost immediately, and want nothing more than to be together.

This was proven when, one night, Brenda took it upon herself to leap over her kennel wall and into Linda’s kennel beside her.

The animals are normally kept separate so that the staff doesn’t have to worry about them fighting.

So, when Madison Weissenborn was doing rounds the next morning and noticed there were two pitties in the one cage, she was a little confused.

She watched the security footage from the night before and was shocked to watch Brenda’s actions.

“We rewatched the video that we have and I about died!” the woman said, “I was like, this is truly magnificent.”

Since then, the staff have let the two dogs remain together and both are visibly happier for it.

The girls love to play and cuddle together and the Humane Society staff are hoping they will be adopted together.

“We know it’s not going to be easy to find them placement together,” Weissenborn said, “but we would love it if we could.”

Though not much is known about either dog, they clearly love each other very much and would be much happier together than separated.

The Humane Society where the girls live is doing everything in their power to increase adoption rates again.

Every dog over the age of 7 months has had their adoption fees totally waived, and, this week only, fees on every animal in the shelter have been waived as well.

Not only do they want to find loving homes for each and every dog they care for, but they also want to be able to open up spaces for other dogs who are in need.

Dr. Graham Brayshaw, the director of veterinary medicine for the Society, has said that most shelters are at full capacity.

If you or someone in your family is looking to welcome a pet into your home, please consider adoption.

Not only will you get a new best friend, but you may also save a life.
