Stella is one smart and agile dog!

They say good fences make good neighbors, but we all know that they tend to keep the thing we love safe from the outside world as well.

At least if they decide to stay inside the confines of the fence.

Check out this great fence a dog-owner built.

Nice wood, well built, real fresh looking. He hasn’t Tom Sawyered someone into painting it yet, but the raw wood grain look is pretty nice.

It’s a big fence too, it probably took him quite some time to put it all together. He even says explicitly in the video how proud he is of his creation – he also mentions exactly why he fixed it.

He’s trying to keep Stella in the yard.

Stella is his canine companion, who is eager to check out the great work her owner has done on the fence.

Except, of course, this fence has one fatal flaw.

It looks like the ground is raised up just ever so slightly where it connects with the house. And we get it – it’s hard to level the ground, especially right up against a structure.

And maybe you think it’s a minor thing that doesn’t matter – but you’d be wrong.

A couple of inches can make all the difference – and Stella knows it too.

Stella quickly begins to inspect the job her owner has done. “Wow, looks great, dad. Nice job. It really looks like a fence that can keep me in this time. You’ve bested me,” she’d no doubt say if woofs and barks could be understood.

Except, only moments later, Stella effortlessly puts all of her owner’s hard work to shame.

Stella doesn’t even hesitate. She walks the length of the fence, and immediately hops the fence when she reaches the bit of raised ground I mentioned earlier.

Looking on at this scene of dashed hopes, crushed dreams, and futile efforts,

He can only mutter two, quiet words. “Damn it.”

Millions of people have watched the video and the comments are full of laughs at the poor man’s misfortune.

“On the bright side, Stella is in great shape,” one said.

“Thats a smart dog, aiming for the part of the fence that was the lowest haha.”

“On a scale from 1 – 10 this is literally the greatest thing ever,” said someone whose day was clearly made by Stella’s antics.

At this point, people should know that some dogs can get around just about any obstacle you put in their way. But Stella’s video has also made a few dog owners put money towards some extra height, just in case.

“I return to this video every few months, it just makes my day to see Stella scale that fence like a gazelle, and I share this video with my dog-loving friends whenever they think about building a fence. Stella has caused many a canine to receive an extra high fence, probably saved as many lives as a result. Thank you for posting this video, it is much appreciated,” said a commenter.

If dog owners want to be absolutely certain beyond the shadow of a doubt that their dog won’t be able to jump a fence, it needs to be ridiculously high – and level. And even then, let’s be real…

Just scroll down below to watch Stella easily glide over the fence meant to keep her in.

Stay safe, Stella!
