During lockdown, a whole host of challenges were created so that people could keep themselves and their pets entertained during the long hours of staying at home. “The invisible challenge” was one that really took off, and was featured all over TikTok and YouTube.
In case you haven’t heard of it, let us explain. This challenge involves taping a roll of cellophane or any other form of clear plastic from one width of the corridor to the other. The idea is then to run down the corridor with your pet of choice in hot pursuit, jump over the wall, and see how they react when they reach the cellophane ‘wall’.
Needless to say, there’s been some hilarious animal’s reactions to the invisible challenge, and this next video that we found is one of our favorites.
It features a very confused dog and stretches further from the original idea by adding tennis balls and footballs. The dog’s bewildered expression is the best thing we’ve seen today, and we knew that we had to share it with you.
Maya the Samoyed lives in Germany with her owner, Lingli Ye. The gorgeous dog is nicknamed a polar bear, cloud, and marshmallow because of her white fluffy fur – but this pup isn’t just a pretty face, as she’s also absolutely hilarious. Maya has a YouTube channel called Mayapolarbear, which features Maya taking part in a whole host of brilliant challenges and has over 1.68 million subscribers.
In one of her latest videos, titled “My Dog’s Reaction To The Invisible Challenge,” Lingli films herself running down a corridor towards a cellophane barrier, which she jumps over.
But how does Maya react when she reaches the wall?
Poor Maya is so confused when she reaches the cellophane.
She can see through it, but it seems pretty solid to her, and she’s totally mind-blown as to how her owner has just managed to jump over it so easily! Maybe it’s like a glass door or window? In that case, Maya decides that she’ll simply have to sit and give puppy dog eyes until Lingli lets her through. That tactic normally works.
But it doesn’t work this time! Lingli even tries to tempt Maya by rolling one of her favorite balls up to the other side of the cellophane. When that doesn’t encourage Maya to move, it’s time for the emergence of every dog’s weakness: the tennis ball.
Lingli rolls the tennis ball through to Maya, and the clever pup begins to realize that there must be a small gap under the wall!
Now we’re getting somewhere! After a quick play with her tennis ball, Maya decides to go and investigate the gap. Her owner keeps on calling for her, and she’s determined to get through to the other side!
Maya pushes her snout through the gap under the cellophane and realizes that there’s a nice little opening. She then squeezes her body through in not the most graceful of ways, it has to be said.
