If you currently own a dog or have ever had one, you know first-hand just how silly they can be. That’s just one of the many reasons why we love them so much. While some of their actions have to do with their personality, others are in response to something they see.
Thanks to people around the world who take the time to share videos, we get to enjoy watching dogs learning about new things. One video has people busting out laughing. It’s all about a dog and a cockroach.

Since being posted in December 2019, a video featuring a handsome Golden Retriever named Tucker went viral. With almost 4.5 million views, it’s captured hearts everywhere. But here’s the thing…this dog has become so famous for all kinds of funny antics that he has his own YouTube Channel.
It’s a surprise
At the start of the video you hear his owner, Linda, tell Tucker she has something for him. You see him sitting on the bed, waiting patiently for whatever his owner wants to show him. He’s so well behaved.
He remains calm
Unlike a lot of big dogs, Tucker is amazingly calm. Rather than become hyper and start bouncing all over the bed, he just sits there. This is yet another reason why so many people have fallen in love with this boy.
Interesting
Tucker’s owner then places a big toy cockroach on the bed in front of him. It even has cool lights. Now I know if that were my dog, she’d be halfway across the house hiding under the couch in less than five seconds. But not Tucker.
He starts to investigate
The eyes of this cockroach even change from purple to red. As that happens, Tucker carefully drops his head to get a better look. He sniffs it and while he’s interested in knowing more about this thing, he doesn’t seem overly excited…yet. It’s more like he’s curious…just a little bit.
Maybe he’s having second thoughts
At the same time his owner asks, “What is that,” Tucker jerks his head up. It’s then that his ears become erect. Initially, he didn’t think much of the cockroach but now he’s not so sure he likes it, especially in his space.
Nope…not having any of this
For just a couple of seconds, Tucker turns away but then the toy moves. After all, this isn’t just any toy cockroach. Along with its large size and changing light colors, this thing crawls. That when it really got Tucker’s attention. So, he turns back toward it.
Attack mode
Okay, not quite. But Tucker does let out a few muffled barks. Linda tells him to be nice that it’s just a cockroach. As soon as it starts moving toward him, he jumps back. At one point, he kind of nips at the toy although he’s only playing.
This is getting funny
With each passing second, Tucker goes through a variety of actions that are hilarious. He punches, nips at, licks, sniffs, and pounces on the toy. It’s as though he knows the bug isn’t going to hurt him yet he’s not quite sure he’s ready to commit to being its friend.
You have to love this boy
This video goes on for a little more than three minutes of pure entertainment. Tucker becomes increasingly more animated as the time ticks by. His owner is so good at allowing him to investigate but without being pushy.
Priceless expressions
If you don’t think dogs make expressions than you haven’t seen Tucker in action. His face changes multiple times depending on what he’s doing with the cockroach. He’s beyond adorable. At the end of the video, Linda has to fish the toy out of his mouth since he decided that perhaps it’d be more fun to eat than to play with.
