There comes a certain type of panic when your pet runs away. You become scared and paranoid thinking that only the worst could happen to your beloved pet. That was Alan Whitton from England after taking his Jack Russell Terrier, Mitzi, for a walk one day when another dog ran up, scaring Mitzi to bits, causing her to run away.
Alan Whitton and his dog, Mitzi, were on a walk when Mitzi ran away from a large dog.
Mitzi and Alan were out for a walk when they passed by another dog and its owner. The other dog, who was much larger than Mitzi, lunged at her and the other dog’s owner lost control. Mitzi was frightened and ran away, being chased by the other dog.
Surely everything happened in the blink of an eye, but now Mitzi was gone. She had taken off, scared and afraid. Alan called and searched for her, but she was nowhere to be found.
Alan posted on Facebook but searched for Mitzi for two days.
Alan began searching everywhere he could think of. He looked and called for her for two days, but she did not return. Surely he was scared, thinking the worst had happened to her.
Alan posted his plea on Facebook, “My little jack russell brown and white wearing a red tartan Jacket was chased off by another big blue grey dog who’s owner Walker lost [control] and chased mine. My girl’s name is Mitzi and she is very friendly to humans but scared of dogs in numbers or big dogs if you find her please grab her and call…”
Alan’s friends began spreading the word, helping to keep a sharp eye out for the missing pet. He continued to post and search for her, but at the end of the second day, surely Alan was getting discouraged by Mitzi’s absence.
Mitzi was found hiding in a foxhole and was rescued.
Finally, after two long days of searching, Alan got a call from a woman. She had been on a walk with her two dogs when they were beyond interested by something down inside a foxhole. She had heard about Mitzi’s disappearance and wondered if she could be hiding here.
The woman called Alan and he went straight down to the location. A team of friends gathered around as they helped dig around the foxhole. Squeaking one of Mitzi’s toys caused Mitzi to cry out. Alan reached into the hole and helped pull her to safety. As he holds his dog close to him, he begins to cry, overwhelmed with emotion as they are finally reunited.
Alan posted the video of their reunion on Facebook with the title, “Ever seen a grown man cry?”
But Alan, we don’t blame you a bit. We would all feel the same way after missing our best friend for over two days. So happy that there were people on the lookout and willing to help Mitzi be reunited with her dad.
