Most dogs are left at home whenever their humans need to work or do something outside. While some of them experience separation anxiety and stress when left alone, others don’t cause problems at home.

One woman felt curious about what her dog does whenever he’s left at home.

With her security camera, Mary decided to watch what goes on at home when Hamilton is alone. There, she made a hilarious discovery.

In the video, you’ll see the dog living his best life.

The woman owns a pool in her yard. And there, you can see Mary’s energetic dog enjoying it.

Hamilton did a quick inspection on one of the pool’s sides.

When he realized that everything’s clear, he decided to jump into the water. With his four chunky legs, he swam with grace towards the other side.

It wasn’t enough.

Hamilton shook the water off and decided to check the other side of the pool. And just like the first time, he jumped right back into the water with so much excitement.

Mary wasn’t surprised at all.

She shared:

“He’s always loved water. We wanted to see what he would do if he had the pool to himself. I’m so grateful for this memory. Ring [showed] his funny personality. I laugh every time I watch it. We love our Ring camera to be able to check up on things when [we’re] not around.

The internet had positive reactions to the dog’s behavior.

Hamilton’s video earned nearly 1.4 million views and hundreds of comments. Most of them were praises for Hamilton.

One YouTube viewer said:

“He’s a very smart dog, loves his own company and he’s a good swimmer! That’s really cool!”

Another one commented:

“He’s having a great old time by himself. Obviously, very intelligent. I wouldn’t be teaching him how to retrieve you a beer out of the fridge though. Once they learn that, it’s all over.”

There was also this person who said:

“Wait a minute, doggo home alone, parents out…he’s obviously no party animal 🤣🤣🤣 think of the shenanigans if he’d invited the other neighbourhood doggos around for a pool party 🥳🐕🥳🐕🥳🐕”

Not all dogs are great in the water, particularly pools. If you own one and you’re not sure if your pet is an accomplished swimmer, consider getting a pool fence. That way, your dog won’t be able to get in the water when there’s no one watching.

Plus, it provides peace of mind. You won’t have to wonder what could happen if one of your neighbors’ pets or kids wanders into your yard.

Installing a pool alarm is also a good idea. It’ll let you know if there’s movement in the water. Although it won’t help you keep your dog out of the water while you’re at work, it’s handy when you’re at home and you’re not always near your pool to look out for dogs.
