Imagine if all families were afforded the ability to care for their loved ones with chronic health conditions by giving them everything they need to thrive and live in good health?
Whether it’s an in-house aid, affordable medicine, or adaptive medical equipment. Unfortunately, that’s not the case for all families.
Having a working elevator in the house can be critical to the quality of life of someone suffering from hip dysplasia.
Logan Mendicino’s parents have an elevator at their South Carolina home for her 15-year-old yellow lab Jackson who suffers from the same condition.
According to the Mayo Clinic, hip dysplasia is a condition that refers to a hip socket that doesn’t fully cover the ball portion of the upper thighbone.
This causes the hip joint to be partially or fully dislocated. Many people are born with the condition, though it can arise in a teen or young adult.
But she says the elevator isn’t specifically for the dog.
It was put in when her family was performing renovations on their beach house. They were looking to the future and having the elevator in case one of them lost full mobility in their old age.
“For right now, it works great for Jackson the dog. He loves it. It’s much easier than carrying him up the stairs,” Mendicino explained on her TikTok page.
Mendicino took a TikTok video of her doggo riding in his fancy elevator, which makes it a lot easier for him and his family to get him to and from the first and second levels of their home.
The video shows the dog curled up on the floor in the one-person glass elevator which looks like a big tube.
He looks up his mom waves him goodbye as he is transported to the lower level. He made sure to bring his toy with him.
“When you’re 15 and the best boy ever so your parents get you an elevator,” the video’s caption states.
There’s also a phone inside the elevator in case he gets stuck and needs to make an emergency call.
But he can only use the elevator when someone else is there to let him in and out of it.
The first video of Jackson using this elevator went viral and was viewed more than 11.3 million times on TikTok.
“This looks like the thing at the bank,” wrote one TikTok commenter.
“That dog got no idea what’s going on,” said another.
Mendicino also shared a second video showing how the pup gets out of the elevator. In it, the pup’s sibling adorably ran up to greet him.

“I want to know how much this costs. I have about ten years to save up,” and another
You can actually ride Mendicino’s elevator for yourself, one person at a time of course.
Her family’s beach house in Kiawah, South Carolina is actually available for rent.
The question is whether or not the dog comes with the rental too. What’s the point in renting this place if you can’t watch this sweet-faced doggo ride in his elevator?
Check out the adorable action in the video below.
