J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter has taken the world by storm.

The books, movies, and characters are beloved by millions across the world… humans and animals alike.

Voice actress and YouTuber Anna Brisbin is obsessed with Harry Potter and so is her 10-month-old puppy, Remus. He’s named after a Hogwarts professor Remus Lupin and werewolf from the Harry Potter series.

Not only did Brisbin name her dog after a Harry Potter character, but she taught him spells too.

Well…. sort of.

She taught her dog basic commands like sit and stay but using spell lingo from the series instead.

“Harry Potter is my EVERYTHING. It’s what inspired me to become an actor, made me a nerd, gave me my creativity and kindness, my friends, everything. I have a tattoo that says ‘Lumos’ in JK Rowling’s handwriting on my arm that I got the day I met her. And of course, my puppy’s name is Remus,” she told Bored Panda.

So instead of telling her dog to play dead, she tells him “Avada Kedavra!” and he plops over on his side.

Fetch becomes “Accio Ball” and “Expelliarmus” means drop it.

“Training in Harry Potter spells was really just the obvious choice,” Brisbin said.

Brisbin posted a video of all of Remus’ spellwork on YouTube where its been viewed more than 300,0000 times so far.

“Last year, I lost my childhood dog Lexie who was also a dachshund. I got her when I was only 8 and she died at almost 18 years old,” she said. “

“It was the biggest heartbreak of my life. I knew I couldn’t go on forever without another dachshund to fill my heart. I searched for over six months before I found Remus and knew he was perfect.”

Brisbin says Remus has been training since he was just 2-months-old.

“Stupefy (stunning spell) and Wingardium Leviosa were super early on and easy to train. Some, like Lumos and Nox (wand-extinguishing charm), he only learned this week,” she told Huffington Post.”But because he had already learned to push the button for Alohomora (unlocking charm), it was super easy for him to learn.”

Rumus currently knows a total of nine spells.

“ I love when he plays dead with Avada Kedavra. He’s picky, though, he’ll only roll over if there is carpet on the floor for his back. I suppose I am grateful he’s taking care of it.”

Brisbin says the key to training her dog is positive reinforcement.

“Always. Make it fun for the dog, obviously. When Remus seems to be struggling, we try to back up and make it easier by going back to the basics like Stupefy which he is really confident with,” she says.
