We love to teach our pets new tricks.
We’d like to train them something “special” as much as possible. The basic ones can be pretty boring to some. We’ve seen pets who get parcels – or do the groceries! That would be such a helpful trick, isn’t it?
How about pets who are not only skilled with tricks but with talents as well? Yes, we’re talking about singing, dancing, and even painting! We’ve heard those stories before, and it’s incredible how it seems so natural for them.
This TikToker posted a video of their dog dancing with her grandma.
Daya Garcia got the video her grandmother filmed and shared it for everyone to enjoy. The video starts with her grandma calling their dog, Sahara, who was looking up at her by the fridge.
She was speaking in Spanish, but Daya shared in the comments section the English translation, which said:
“For non-Spanish speakers, [in] the beginning, she said, ‘Sahara, come help me do exercise. You’re fat just like me’.”
And in a few seconds, Sahara was on her feet, dancing to the music.
You can see those happy tail wags as she stood on her hind legs and raised her front paws. She inched her way closer to grandma as she was feeling the music.
She wanted back on all fours for a bit, but she quickly picked herself up again and moved closer to grandma, as if begging to take her hand, er… paws. They continued dancing, and she even gave a little turn!
The video was viewed over 475,000 times.
People absolutely loved the video and expressed it so in the comments section. A lot of people were amazed by the little turn she did. Some were shocked how she did it so perfectly.
On the other hand, people enjoyed how the grandma encouraged Sahara to show off her talents through that dance. Some even shared how their dogs dance with their moms, too. It’s probably something they love to do, don’t you think?
You can actually train your dogs how to dance!
A simple cue such as “up” or “dance” can already be a good start. Of course, like any other training, this would require lots of treats or toys as a lure. You have to start with training them with basic movements by leading them to that movement.
You can also lay out different items on the floor for them to skip and move around to practice how they go around obstacles. Doing so would help them get used to the movement.
Again, you can use treats or toys to lure or lead them in the direction you want them to go.
It’s also best to dance with them so they can mimic your movements. Once they’re accustomed to the actions, music, and the cue to dance, they would voluntarily get up on their feet as Sahara did. Just don’t forget to reward them with (more) treats and play time right after.
