Like people, dogs can also go through a depression. That’s what happened to a dog named George after he lost his best friend and brother, a Labrador named Blackie.

After his buddy passed, George fell into a seriously deep depression.

“He almost died twice. He doesn’t eat he would starve himself,” said George’s mom Jacquie Litton told Inside Edition. “He would have anxiety. He would have multitudes of skin infections from chewing on himself.”

Poor sad George suffered like this for two long years. That was until the Universe sent someone special to lift George’s spirts.

One day, out of nowhere, a duck appeared on Litton’s property.

The unlikely couple hit it off immediately and have been best friends ever since. The duck hasn’t left George’s side since the day they met.

“George loves him. It’s his buddy. He’s been really happy with him since the duck has shown up,” Litton says. ” He’s been fine. He’s not wanted in the house. He’s not whined. He’s not meeting you at the car, ya know, looking sad.”

Litton says that George’s depression has instantly disappeared.

He no longer whines or has anxiety or wanders around looking sad. And George and his duck love spending time with each other. They walk around, cuddle, and even sleep in the same bed.

The whole situation has been pretty baffling to Litton.

Especially with the timing of the duck’s arrival.

“We have no idea where this duck came from but he sure does love George and since the duck has arrived George has not cried one time,” Litton said on Facebook. “It is strange for a duck to just appear at our house and be attached to your dog and even more strangely the anniversary week of Blackie’s passing.”

Litton now has a new pet which she called “Donald,” according to Happiest.

She takes special care of Donald, hoping he’ll stick around for George.

“I must say this Duck has found the Golden Egg because anyone who knows me knows this is one ‘Lucky Duck’. I will take the best of care of him… hoping that he stays around,” she said.

It looks like these two are going to be friends for a long time.

“They’re totally different species and they found company and comfort with each other,” Litton said.
