The adorable pup Brutus has a tendency to rip things apart, but he’s absolutely crazy about one favorite toy. Brutus always carries a yellow little plushy ball around wherever he goes.

When the bullmastiff was introduced to a new human member in the family, he decided to share his favorite toy with the little baby. Cuteness overload.

“It’s the only toy that he won’t tear apart in five minutes,” Brutus’ mom Bonnie Michalek said to The Dodo.

Even though Brutus likes tearing apart all of his other toys, he’s a four-footer with an incredibly loving personality and is always gentle with other animals and humans. Bonnie and her husband took him in back in 2016 after they moved to a bigger house.

“I call him my first baby,” Bonnie says.

Not too long ago, the Michalek family welcomed a new member.

The cute baby boy Kayden was born! The couple decided to share the news with a picture of Brutus near a funny sign.

“Mom and dad are getting me human!” the sign reads. “Guard dog duties begin January 2018”

Bonnie and her husband didn’t have a single doubt about whether or not Brutus would get along with Kayden. The pup is always affectionate and loves hanging around children.

“He’s always loved kids,” Michalek recalls. “Every time he’s heard kids outside laughing he gets excited.”

Funnily enough, Bonnie thinks that Brutus figured out that she was pregnant earlier than the couple did. Brutus felt a need to protect his mom when she was alone and knew that something was going on.

“Brutus knew I was pregnant before I did — he definitely sensed it before I knew,” Bonnie told. “On the nights my husband was working Brutus refused to be in his crate.”

Looking back I thought he was just being a brat but really he was trying to protect me,” she said.

Bonnie’s parents were babysitting Brutus for a little while when Kayden was welcomed to the world, but the two were finally able to meet shortly after.

Right away, Brutus wanted to give little Kayden some affectionate hugs and kisses.

“I made sure to pay some attention to him. Brutus completely bypassed my husband to meet Kayden. He immediately wanted to give him kisses and snuggle up to him.”

The two ‘siblings’ have been completely inseparable since. Brutus has always been looking out for him.

When Kayden is sad or when he’s crying, Brutus knows exactly what to do!

He just takes his favorite yellow plushy toy and hands it over to Kayden to console him. He must’ve figured that if it works for him, it must work for the baby as well.

It’s just too sweet.

The family of four already has plans for a nice summer retreat where Kayden and Brutus will get to spend more time together in a new environment.

“We go to our cabin every summer and we go hiking and Brutus has loved that ever since he was a puppy. I went there as a kid,” Bonnie told. “I’m super excited to bring Kayden along.”

The couple has shared tons of funny pictures and adventures of Brutus and Kayden, and it appears that the pup has also taken an interest in some of Kayden’s toys.
