We’ve all been there, stayed up way too late, and now after a few hours of sleep, the sun is rising. Our alarm blasts us awake in such an annoying fashion. Your phone has a huge selection of alarm sounds to choose from but they are all just terribly irritating. Even the tantric bells have a “spike in the ear” quality. Well, the guy in this video has it all figured out.
The most peaceful way to wake up in the morning is a tranquil nudge from man’s best friend. A few gentle taps from a Samoyed and you’ll be tenderly coaxed out of slumber, the way you always wished Mom would have done.
Meet Lexi, a Samoyed who resides with Tom Brown and family. Lexi is a graceful and tireless Samoyed with an impeccable fluffy white coat. She’s enough to cause the staunchest man to break down into a ball of cuddles.
One thing Lexi loves is her dad, Tom. She loves to be with, play with, and just live life around her human.
Tom is in a quiet state of rest. You can see it in his face, the man is deep asleep. But his peaceful alarm clock is ready to gently urge him to wake up and get his day started. No more sleep for you, Dad.
Lexi gently taps dad’s chest with her big fuzzy paw. It may take quite a few taps but Lexi is determined to get the job done and get this show on the road.
She pats his chest with the most delicate touch. She’s nothing like Mom. One time Mom got so sick of you not getting out of bed for school, she poured a cup of ice water in your face. No, Lexi isn’t like that at all.
Lexi is gentle and kind, and one thing is for sure she’s not going to give up until dad is wide awake. I wonder why she has such sustained enthusiasm for getting him out of bed?
Tom is deep in dreamland. His wife holds the camera and boy is she getting a good chuckle out of this scene. Dad looks so peaceful in that comfy fluffy bed. He’s all wrapped up like a warm tamale. It doesn’t look like he’ll be waking anytime soon.
Lexi tap tap taps on his chest, and she’s getting no movement from dad. At a certain point, she looks like she might go and get her dog bowl, but no, man’s best friend would never do something that rude.
Lexi is a perfect specimen of the Samoyed breed of dog. The American Kennel Club describes the breed as the smiling sled dog.
“Samoyeds, the smiling sled dogs, were bred for hard work in the world’s coldest locales. In the Siberian town of Oymyakon, for instance, temperatures of minus-60 degrees are common. The Sammy’s famous white coat is thick enough to protect against such brutal conditions.
That upturned smile is a stand out feature of the Samoyed. But even that smile has its function. In the extreme cold weather they work in, the upturned corners of their mouth keep their drool from forming icicles.
If her smile has a purpose then what’s the purpose of waking dad up? Why is she so persistent?
Back in bed, the gentle patting is starting to work. Dad is being drawn out of the dream world and back into reality. And what a strange reality it is to have this fluffy white dog gazing into your eyes.
Lexi has him right where she wants him. But he’s not waking so she goes in for an Eskimo kiss, rubbing her nose against his.
Okay, let’s get real here. Lexi is a dog and she wants to go for a walk. She’s being nice about it, but her owner needs to get his butt out of bed and take her on her morning stroll.
Dad probably can’t appreciate her persistence in these times, especially when Lexi starts to pull out the bigger guns. Lexi puts that fluffy paw over dad’s mouth. And no matter how delightful and kind this wake up is, there’s one thing for sure … Lexi doesn’t have a snooze button.
If you love this video of Lexi then you can see more of her hijinx and all-around cuteness on Tom Brown’s YouTube Channel. There you can watch Lexi eat dinner at the dining room table, jump up into dad’s arms, and howl at the tv. Tom has uploaded lots of fun and adorable videos over there.
If you ever wished your mom would wake you up with a little more reasonableness, then pass this along to her and let her know how a peaceful pup wakes up his loving dad. Maybe mom will take a nod from Lexi and start gently nudging you awake.
But remember, Lexi has no snooze button and neither does mom. So if you don’t actually wake up and get moving then you might deserve the ice bath.
