Finn is a little dog, but he is a naughty one.

When he took off one day, his owners started whistling and calling for him to come back. He ignored them and went on his way.

His owners figured he would eventually come back, but about 30 minutes after Finn ran off, they got a call from the Ontario Provincial Police.

Owner Reid Thompson explained:

“I was informed that Finn had been causing some chaos as he chased a deer along the road, through the hospital grounds and back onto the road. They tangled for a bit, up and over a guardrail and down onto the ice … eventually, the deer got away and Finn gave up the chase.”

Reid went to get his dog from the police and admitted that he didn’t think it was too serious.

The officers weren’t happy about the dog and gave Reid a lecture on keeping his dog on a leash. They also told him to be prepared for animal control officers to be in contact with him.

While Reid was getting a lecture, Finn was sitting in the back of the police car looking guilty and not the least bit concerned with the consequences of his actions. He felt like a bad dog, and he seemed to like it.

Meanwhile, Reid negotiated his freedom and was a little shocked that the dog had caused so much trouble in such a short time.

His daughter, Emme, also found it humorous, and she took a picture of the dog in the police car and posted it on Twitter. She posted:

“someone called the police on my dog because he ran away and attacked a deer and i know this is serious but the sight of him in the cop car i’m alskdjfhsgh.”

Everyone had something to say about it. Gary Boncella said:

“Not a bark or a ruff. Fith Amendment all the way and lawyer up”

Joshua Bowman said:

“After a tip-off from an anonymous collar, they caught the pup-itrator, gave him a pat down, made sure he didn’t flea and sent him to the dog house.”

Another Twitter user said that she had a similar situation happen with her dog. She posted:

“My dog ran away and made it to a main road, a fire truck on a way to a call called 911 to have her picked up. I was laughing so hard when they brought her back I started crying.”

Emme later added an update on Twitter to let everyone know that the dog was now free. She posted:

“He’s out now but we’re still waiting to find out what’ll happen to him. He’s a good boy he just hates deer.”

Of course, Finn isn’t enjoying all the attention, and now that he has a new bad dog image, he is acting tougher than ever.

Emme added:

“He’s pretty proud of himself.”

If being in the back of the police car didn’t teach Finn a lesson, maybe his bath after he was bailed out did. According to Thompson, he wasn’t too happy about getting cleaned up.

Running through the woods after a deer and having a run-in with the law can make a dog pretty dirty.

Reid joked:

“He didn’t like the bath he got afterward… the baby powder spritz spray didn’t match his new bad-boy image he is trying to cultivate.”

Now that Finn has had a taste of the criminal life, his family may have a hard time keeping him out of trouble. Even if Finn isn’t afraid of the police or their punishment, his owners are. They plan on keeping him on a leash from now on.
