Imagine the surprise of stumbling upon someone who looks exactly like you.
That’s precisely what happened to a dog named Rogue during a leisurely walk with his owner, Bethany Coleman.
The duo unexpectedly encountered another dog that was the spitting image of Rogue.
Bethany recalled the peculiar incident, saying, “Rogue and I were enjoying our walk to the local farmers market when we spotted Beast.
He was there with Last Hope K9 Rescue, surrounded by other dogs up for adoption.
But what caught my eye was Beast’s uncanny resemblance to Rogue.
Both are cairn terrier mixes. While we know Rogue’s lineage includes a lab/pit mix and a cairn, Beast’s exact mix remains a mystery.
Some even mistake him for a pig due to his unique body type!”
The idea of adding another pet to their household had been floating around.
Bethany’s boyfriend was keen on the idea, but Bethany had reservations.
She explained, “Tyson, my boyfriend, was eager to get another dog. But I was hesitant.
We already had two senior cats and our young Rogue. I couldn’t fathom adding another animal. I mean, who would rent an apartment to us with so many pets?”
But the universe had other plans. The moment Bethany laid eyes on Beast, her heart melted.
She could sense that Rogue felt the same way. “It was like looking at Rogue’s doppelganger.
The two hit it off instantly, playing as if they’d known each other forever.
I couldn’t resist and began filling out the adoption paperwork on the spot.
I even captured their first photo together at the market.”
Integrating Beast into their home wasn’t a walk in the park.
With multiple pets, each with their personalities, there were bound to be some territorial disputes.
Beast, being the largest, naturally felt he should be the alpha.
But Rogue wasn’t having any of it.
Even the cats needed time to adjust to the new family member.
Bethany reminisced, “It took about a month for everyone to settle into a routine.
We thought getting identical toys for the two dogs would ease tensions.
But Rogue always wants whatever Beast has.
It’s amusing to watch them swap toys, especially during treat time.
But deep down, they’re inseparable buddies.”
Today, Beast has seamlessly blended into the family.
Living in Hawaii offers endless beach days, and Beast can’t get enough of the sand and surf.
He and Rogue have their fun-filled beach escapades and cozy couch cuddles.
Bethany mused, “We’re even considering getting Beast a life jacket and teaching him to surf on a boogie board.”
Rogue’s chance encounter with his “twin” not only gave him a playmate but also brought balance to the family.
With equal numbers of cats and dogs, their home is now filled with twice the fun and laughter.
Their heartwarming tale is a testament to the unpredictability of life.
Sometimes, the best things come when you least expect them.
These two pups, with their uncanny resemblance and unbreakable bond, were destined to be together, proving that sometimes, you don’t realize what’s missing until it finds you.
