We all understand what it feels like when things don’t go our way. It’s, well, never a great feeling to have. It’s disappointing, more than anything else.
But what really matters is how you choose to react to that disappointment.
Someone who’s going through a hardship might just brush it off and remember that things can always be worse. Another person can let it ruin their whole day.
We probably all have experience with both sides of the story.
So when we watch this video of a pup who dropped his toy… Well, we can relate. We can really, really relate.
The dog is home alone while his family is gone. But they aren’t totally gone — they have a security camera set up right on the pup so that they can watch his every move and make sure he is safe while they aren’t physically there to look after him.
Things are going well.
As we watch this clip, things seem to be going remarkably well for the dog who is stuck at home all alone. He’s lounging on the couch, playing with a bright red toy. It seems to be a bone. No big deal, nothing but fun!
But then things quickly go south.
Much to our surprise, the toy eventually flies out of the pup’s paws. At this point, it’s out of his control. The toy is up in the air one second and then comes crashing down at the floor the next moment.
The dog takes a second to stare at the door, which is now on the floor, almost as if he is trying to process what just happened.
He didn’t like what he just processed…
Then, after taking a second, he points his snout up at the ceiling and begins to howl!
This overreaction is unlike anything we’ve ever seen before!
Seriously, this dog is howling as if he just came face to face with a threatening predator. He’s not just reacting, but he is overreacting. You’d think by the way he was howling, something terrible just happened!
However, it was all because his toy fell onto the ground.
Now, it sounds like we’re judging this dog — and maybe we are a little bit. However, when it comes down to it, this is a feeling we can relate to all too well.
Maybe we’ve never dropped a dog toy on the floor but we can all admit that something disappointing has happened to us. In the moment, it can feel like the biggest deal in the world. But then after some times goes by, you might realize how silly you were being.
After the dog barks his anger out of his system, he collapses on the couch and just lies there, almost as if he’s playing dead.
It seems like he’s throwing an emotional fit and at the end he’s just giving up. He’s almost saying, “I don’t care anymore — I give up on life!”
We don’t necessarily think a toy should ever warrant this kind of reaction, but we’d be lying if we said we’ve never been there before.
This is the most relatable thing we have seen all day!
