Have you ever had to deal with a sick pet? It’s awful to see your furry friend in pain. You want to do whatever you can do to make them feel better.
Unfortunately, that’s not always possible. Sometimes, you have to leave them alone even when they’re under the weather. That’s when it’s good to have more than one pet.
The tale of two brothers
Spanky and his big brother Roman love each other more than anything. The younger pup looks up to his older sibling, following him everywhere he goes. They always want to be together.
Best friends forever
Jackie Rogers, the aunt of Roman and Spanky, told the Dodo about their relationship. She said, “Roman is definitely Spanky’s security blanket. Spanky will do nothing without Roman and always makes sure he is close to him and if he’s not he gets up and goes near him.”
A trip to the vet
Not long ago, the human mom of these two pups had to take Roman to the vet. There was something wrong with his ear. The veterinarian said it was a hematoma. That meant it had to be removed.
Not feeling well
But before they could get the surgery scheduled, Roman’s ear got worse. It didn’t take long before he was extremely uncomfortable. He just didn’t feel well.
Spanky notices
At first, Spanky didn’t seem to think anything was wrong with Roman. But then, as the older pooch got worse, the little brother sensed something was wrong. Instinctively, he knew Roman wasn’t feeling good at all.
Keeping an eye on him
Once Roman’s surgery date had been set, he just had to wait it out until the time came. His family knew he was uncomfortable. So, they set up a camera inside the house. That way, they could check on the pups from time to time whenever they were gone.
Spanky was concerned
The family watched the video. At one point, it became clear that Spanky was worried about Roman. Knowing his brother wasn’t his old self, this pup wanted to do whatever he could do to help.
Getting comfy
Roman was just lying on the floor. But apparently, Sparky thought he could be more comfortable. So, he decided to drag his brother’s bed across the floor to make him as comfortable as possible. Roman didn’t even have to move.
A very sweet scene
Rogers talked about what she saw on camera. She said, “I see Spanky pacing for a minute while looking at Roman and then the bed and then I see him dragging the bed to Roman and as he’s dragging it he’s looking at Roman almost to say, ‘This is for you.’ And then the next clip is them snuggling. I had to re-watch it multiple times. I was in disbelief that he did that!”
Snuggle buddies
After that, the two pups stayed snuggled together for hours. It’s clear how much they love and care about each other. And that’s not something you see every day. How many dogs would go out of their way to help their sibling like that?
