When it comes to learning tricks, dogs are some of the smartest animals. Not not only can they easily learn the basic tricks like sitting and giving you their paw, but if you spend a little more time on training them up, some dogs are smart enough to learn whole dance routines (not to mention the super smart pups who go on to become sniffer dogs or service dogs).
We don’t know about you, but there’s nothing more entertaining for us than a dog competition. Of course, they’re all winners in our eyes, and judging aside, it’s amazing to watch such a range of dogs, each with an extraordinary talent.
One video in particular caught our eye, showcasing a dance competition between dogs set in Russia.

The video shows Alice the collie busting some awesome moves, and along with her trainer Yvonne Belin, the pair go on to win the competition. And it’s not hard to see why!

According to the caption of the video, The FCI dog dance world championships 2016 took place in Moscow, Russia from 23 – 26 June 2016. The participants competed in two categories: freestyle and heelwork to music. This routine in the clip was shown in the freestyle final, where only the ten best participants were competing.
Since being posted back in 2016 by Videos from Freestyle&HTM World Championship 2016 Moscow, the video has raked in an impressive 3.1 million views, as well as thousands of likes and comments.
It’s pretty amazing to see the extent of what you can teach dogs to do!

The routine begins as it means to go on, and as Yvonne drops down into a curtsey for the judges, Alice does her own cute little curtsey, even crossing over her two front paws and bowing her head. That’s sure to earn them some bonus points! The music then starts up, and Yvonne and Alice get their groove on to Don’t Stop Me Now by Queen.
After watching the routine, we’re beginning to question if there are any tricks that Alice can’t do. We’re entertained throughout the whole show, as Alice jumps, spins, and boogies her way through the competition.

One of our favorite moves from Alice is when she crouches down with her two front paws and runs backward in a circle. It’s cute, silly, and fun, and the crowd also seems to be pretty wild for it. It begs the question of how we would train our dogs to do that. It would be a great move to bust out on our daily walk to the park.

We equally love the moment when Alice stands up on her back legs and literally rises onto the very tips of her paws, impressively bringing her to almost the same height as Yvonne! The talented pup prances around on her two feet for a little while, before it’s time for the grand finale.

Alice finishes her incredible routine sat in between her trainer’s legs, and as the applause echoes through the stadium, the pair walk forwards and do another cute little curtsey for the judges. We can’t help wishing that the routine would have gone on for longer. What an extraordinarily talented duo!
We’re proud enough when our dog sits and stays, but after watching this video, we’re now tempted to learn a whole dance routine with our unsuspecting pooch.
Watch the incredible video for yourselves below, and maybe you’ll see us competing there next year?
