When nurse Elizabeth Potter in Red Wing, Minnesota, saw a hole in the fence her husband had built in their backyard, she could not imagine what had happened.
You see, the couple has a Saint Bernard dog, Everest, who is simply in love with their neighbors’ Mastiff, Bear.
One being a male and the other a female, Everest and Bear just love to hang out with each other, and the fence their owners had built to separate the two properties would not stop them from being with each other.
The two large dogs would do anything to be together again, so they started barking and causing havoc, until they found a solution to their problem.
Having giant heads really helped them in this case. They managed to make a hole in the fence so they could see each other and have a “chat”.
At first, the dogs’ owners didn’t realize there was a hole in the fence, they could just see their dogs staring at it.
A while later, they found out they were not staring at the fence, but at each other through the hole they had made themselves!
“It wasn’t until bear poked his head out that I realised that they ruined the fence my husband had built by himself,” Potter told Metro. “I honestly thought it was hilarious. Dogs will be dogs.”
The woman also recalled that it wasn’t the first time their dog has ruined something expensive.
However, her husband didn’t find it as funny as she did. After all, he had put in so much effort to build the fence and it was ruined within minutes.
The dog owners captured on video the dogs trying to approach each other through the hole they had poked in the fence, and it’s so funny!
In the video, we can see Everest sticking its head through the hole and in a way inviting Bear into Potter’s yard. Moments later, as Everest moves back, we can see Bear’s head coming out of the hole.
The owners just can’t believe it!
Bear at some point even tries to pass his leg through the hole. Everest approaches its friend and licks its head as if encouraging it and supporting its effort.
Later on, we can see the two dogs in the same yard playing happily together and enjoying each other’s company.
However, their owners couldn’t just let them ruin the fence again. That’s why they decided to build a swinging metal door, which they could both use.
“My husband and the neighbours decided to put up a swinging metal gate so that they can let Bear into our yard whenever and we can use their hot tub whenever,” Potter explained.
Sounds like a win-win situation, right?
The dogs can have their play dates whenever they want, and their owners can enjoy the hot tub. Definitely a good idea!
