If you own a dog, you are basically guaranteed a few things. Regardless of the breed or training, your dog will inevitably, without a doubt, make a mess in your home. It may come from something they ate or it may come from them being sick, but it WILL eventually happen. Another reality is the fact that your dog WILL try and eat things they aren’t supposed to. It’s just a dog-fact.
Thankfully, there is a third guarantee to owning a dog – they will love you will all their hearts!
If you love your dog with all you have, they will return it right back to you. While the cuddly feeling of owning a dog are awesome, we aren’t here to talk about that today! We want to talk about the second “guarantee” on our list – the fact that your dog will try and eat things they probably shouldn’t.
Brood X has been all over the news recently.
If you haven’t already seen it on the news, the largest cicada swarm on the East Coast is on its way. What’s a cicada, you might ask?
Magicicada species spend almost the full length of their long lives underground feeding on xylem fluids from the roots of deciduous forest trees in the eastern United States.[4] In the spring of their 13th or 17th year, mature cicada nymphs emerge between late April and early June at any given locality, synchronously and in tremendous numbers. After the prolonged developmental phase, the adults are active for only about 4 to 6 weeks
If you have ever heard that incessant droning noise during the summer, you know what a cicada is.
Scientists track the swarms or “broods” of these bugs and 2021 is the year that the largest one surfaces from underground.
Brood X (Brood 10), the Great Eastern Brood, is one of 15 broods of periodical cicadas that appear regularly throughout the eastern United States. It has the greatest range and concentration of any of the 17-year cicadas.
While this is all cool, you may be asking “What does this have to do with my dog?” Great question! Well, to be clear, it doesn’t really relate, but a recent video shows us what happens when a curious dog has a run-in with a cicada!
In this video, we see a dog sitting on a bed, looking as guilty as can be.
What did the dog do wrong? Turn up your volume and find out. It starts off as a gentle buzzing, but it gets louder and louder! Soon, it becomes clear what happened – this dog has a cicada in its mouth!
His owner keeps asking, “What is in your mouth?!”
The dog had found a cicada and decided to keep it safe… inside its mouth! This video was filmed a few years ago, but it’s a good teaser for all the hilarity that will surely ensue when Brood X pops out of the ground and dogs everywhere bring in some “gifts” for their parents!
Check out the video below to see the “buzzing” dog!
