A sweet Siberian Husky named Biscuit spent the first two years of his life on a chain.

Biscuit and eight other dogs were kept on leashes in a kennel with no roof. They had no place to go if it rained or snowed, and they couldn’t get the exercise they needed. Many of the dogs’ paws were frostbitten from the freezing weather.

One day, Dogs Deserve Better founder Amy Hines happened to drive by the Kentucky property where these dogs lived. She was shocked to see the poor chained-up dogs, and she knew she couldn’t just leave them there. She established a relationship with the dogs’ owner, and she was able to get him to release the dogs to Dogs Deserve Better.

Over two months, Hines brought each of the dogs back with her to Dogs Deserve Better’s shelter in Virginia.

For the first time, they slept with a roof over their heads on a warm bed.

Once they were settled into their new home, Hines took Biscuit and the other dogs to a nearby field. For the first time in their lives, they got to run!

Biscuit happily frolicked through the grass, not a care in the world. Hines let him run for as long as he wanted. She also shot a touching video of Biscuit’s first run.

Biscuit is an intelligent pup who has responded well to training. Dogs Deserve Better put together a video showing just how smart he is!

A few months after Dogs Deserve Better took Biscuit in, he found his forever home.

Biscuit will never have to worry about being chained up and forced to suffer through freezing weather again. He’s now in a loving home, where he can run and play as much as he wants.

Biscuit and the other eight dogs have all gone on to good homes where they’re getting lots of love and affection. Dogs Deserve Better did an amazing job rescuing these sweet pups and giving them a great life.
