This is the sweetest gesture I've ever seen.

While dogs and cats are presumed to be rivals, there are times when compassion rises above classic rivalry. The video below is a beautiful example of this in action.

On a particularly rainy day, one man built a dog house shelter for a pregnant dog to deliver her litter.

When the man who created the shelter went outside to check on the dog, he made an interesting discovery – the dog wasn’t alone in the doghouse.

The new mother wasn’t just there with her puppies. She was also there with a stray cat and her newborn kittens!

“This little dog here gave birth on the first of September,” the man narrates in the video. “And yesterday, the 7th day of September, the cat entered the little house and gave birth together with her.”

It is speculated that the stray mama cat was looking for somewhere warm to deliver her babies. When she came across the doghouse, the also new mama dog made room for the cat to join her.

If that’s not the sweetest gesture one mom could make to another, I’m not sure what is.

Clearly, the two are comfortable with one another. And both animals are not skittish or easily frightened when the man approaches them or films them on camera.

“How cool. People are going to think I’m lying,” he continues saying. “They entered the house to give birth. No one put them there. So we have three puppies and four kittens. Where are the kitties? I can’t really film it. But it’s incredible to see. But look… it’s like a maternity ward in here.”

Both the cat and the dog just wanted somewhere warm to have their babies. Together, they snuggle to keep warm while providing nourishment for their young babies.

What a truly amazing sight that these two animals put aside their differences to help each other out – with no words being necessary.
