Becoming a parent is one of the most wonderful and terrifying things that can ever happen to you. The first time you hold your baby, you’re filled with wonder. Then eventually, you bring them home. And the first question people ask is, “Who does the baby look like?”
Then, as they start to grow up, you notice they’re like you in a lot of different ways. Maybe they have a gesture they learned from watching you. Perhaps they have a way of phrasing things that’s pure Mom or Dad. It could also be in their attitude.
That same thing happens in the animal kingdom. You might think, “Well, of course, animals look like their parents — they’re animals.” But it’s truer than you might realize.
If you’ve ever owned a dog that had puppies, you can see how much they look like their mom. And yes, just like humans, they even pick up the habits and mannerisms of their parents. I guess we have more in common with them than we think.
The best part is the resemblance is just so cute. The only thing cuter than one dog — a dog and its mini-me.
1. What an angry baby
Husky babies often look a bit angry. But judging by her father, his expression will eventually get a little less intimidating.
It’s so sweet to see the contrast between Dad and son. One day, that little pup will look just like his pop. But for now, he’s still just a sweet baby.
This puppy is the spitting image of her parents in more ways than one. Most obvious, they’re all Huskies. But even more, they all have that ear-to-ear smile.
You can’t see the puppies’ faces very well but there’s enough that you can tell they’re the spitting image of their mom. It might have something to do with all that fur.
While animals might express affection in different ways than we do, it’s still easy to see what those are. Just like human babies, this little mini-me can’t keep his paws off his mom.
This mom gave birth to her babies just a few hours earlier. So, it’s no wonder she looks wiped. But she’s also happy to be snuggling her little ones at last.
After delivery, a mother dog gives her new babies a sniff to make sure they’re hers. Or she could just look in a mirror to make a side-by-side comparison with them.
Okay, so maybe this Dalmatian mom doesn’t have had 101 puppies but she did have a big litter. Now here’s the real question: how will she tell them all apart?
Husky puppies look a little silly when they’re born, often described as “angry” or even having “Batman masks.” But Mom doesn’t care. She thinks her pups are beautiful.
Most new moms don’t feel great when the cameras come out, but hey. One day, you’ll want to look back to see yourself with your new baby — or babies, as the case may be.
