We are all experiencing challenges in our lives.

Some are big, and some are small, but each one is different.

Sometimes, because of the circumstances that we are facing, we need to make tough decisions.

Lilo is a beautiful dog and is well cared for. She looked so healthy, and her fur was lovely, as well.

So, it was a surprise when a good Samaritan found her wandering with her leash still attached.

The good Samaritan took the dog to McKamey Animal Center, and there, they saw a note clipped on her leash.

As they opened the note, it read:

“My name is Lilo. Please love me,” the note said. “My mom can’t keep me and is homeless with 2 kids. She tried her best but can’t get help. I cost too much for her. She really loves me and I’m a great dog and love to be loved on. Please don’t abuse me.”

Reading the note, anyone would feel sad that Lilo’s mom had to make this tough decision.

The staff of McKamey Animal Center didn’t feel angry with her. As they read the letter, they were moved.

They felt that she really loved her dog because she didn’t want her to get abused, and all she wanted was for her to have the best life, even if that means giving her up.

In their Facebook post, the staff of the shelter told Lilo’s mom that they promised to take care of her, keep her name, and make sure that she finds her forever home.

However, they are calling out for her.

In any event that she comes across the post, it was okay for her to come to them.

They didn’t want to press charges or be angry at her. In fact, the rescue center wanted Lilo to get back with her family.

“We will help you with whatever you need to care for her, to the best of our ability. Lilo definitely misses you, and we would like nothing more than to see her go back to the family she loves. Either way, please know that we understand. We will not judge, and we are here to help in any way we can,” they said in their post.

Indeed, love will find a way.

The next day, McKamey Animal Center posted on Facebook and gave an update.

As they snapped a photo, you could see how she missed Lilo.

That hug was so sweet, and everyone at MAC cried.

After the sweet reunion, as promised, they talked to some agencies and people to set up a safe haven, shelter, and the needed resources for Lilo and her family.

They are all aware that being homeless is not the ideal setup for everyone.

Many comments talked about how Lilo went out and asked for help, not for her, but for her family.

If you believe in miracles, then yes, it’s a great possibility.

As a reminder from MAC, if you’re facing a similar situation, please don’t hesitate to approach your local shelter, or if you’re near the area, they are open to anyone who may face similar situations.

Because of the viral post, MAC created The MAC Cares Fund.

“This will help people and their pets stay together when homelessness and financial hardship loom by providing things like pet deposits for housing, temporary boarding of animals, food, supplies and essential veterinary care, and more,” MAC posted.
