Dogs are some of the purest animals out there. For our canine friends, the smallest day-to-day things, like going for a walk or mom or dad coming home from work, are always a cause for total elation.

Most dogs would agree that there’s nothing more exciting than exploring nature – but for some, it’s harder than it is for others.

Disabled dogs find it difficult to navigate terrain that most dogs can handle without thinking.

Rocky landscapes, areas with lots of thick undergrowth, and bodies of water are all a no-no for doggy wheelchairs.

Beaches, with their miles of sand and sea, may also be out of the question – which is a shame, as most dogs love the beach.

You know that unexplainable feeling of happiness you get at the beach? Well, dogs get that too, at about ten times the intensity.

So Salima Kadaoui was determined that her 18 disabled dogs would get to enjoy the beach as every other dog could.

Salima founded SFT Animal Sanctuary in Tangiers, Morocco. Many of the dogs she takes in have lifelong disabilities after being hit by cars and left.

Thankfully, Salima rarely gives in on her pooches, knowing that it’s still possible for them to live life to the full – as long as they can adapt to a new way of living.

She proved the power of rehabilitation when she took some of her dogs on a day trip on July 4.

Despite only having working front legs, the dogs put on an impressive speed as they raced alongside Salima from one end of the beach to the other.

Imagine relaxing by the shore and hearing a commotion – only to look up and see 18 dogs in wheelchairs racing along the sand!

The video makes for an adorable watch.

There are dogs of all sizes on the beach, from a tiny corgi to a large german shepherd. It’s an eye-opener to just how much of a life-saving invention the doggy wheelchair has been.

It doesn’t matter that these dogs can’t use their back legs, because with their wheels in place, they can run just as fast as their non-disabled friends.

There’s even time for a bit of cheekiness, too!

At one point, a corgi steals Salima’s shoe, shaking it around in her mouth before giving it back to its rightful owner.

Another clip of the dogs racing down the beach shows that one cheeky dog has managed to get the wheel of his friend’s wheelchair in his mouth – but they’re still pelting along at full speed!

This certainly looks like a fun-loving bunch, and it’s fantastic that Salima has been able to give these pups the life they deserve.

One thing’s for sure: these dogs don’t feel sorry for themselves.

They can teach us humans a thing or two about life. How many of us, even those of us who don’t have disabilities, compare ourselves to other people and find ourselves longing for things that we don’t have?

We should be more like these dogs – loving what we do have, without even considering what we’re missing.

The video of Salima and her pups has been viewed nearly 50,000 times.

Speaking to Story Trender about her rescue mission, Salima said:

“In total, we have close to 600 animals in the Sanctuary, including dogs, cats, donkeys and monkeys.”

Wow – she must have her hands full! But what a rewarding job it must be.
