It’s often said that a dog is a man’s best friend, but dogs tend to become great friends with other animals as well. The Golden Retriever Forsberg and his furry feline sibling Ginger were inseparable. Ginger was an adorable orange tabby and always wanted to cuddle with her best friend. An unlikely, but absolutely beautiful friendship formed between the two four-footers.

Ginger and Forsberg had been together for more than eight years and their friendship gradually evolved. They didn’t give each other much attention at first but quickly grew to love each other. The two seniors ate their meals together, they cuddled all the time and just enjoyed each other’s company.

Tragically, Ginger’s senior age eventually resulted in health issues. The feline was diagnosed with thyroid cancer when she was fifteen years old and she passed away shortly after.

Forsberg was absolutely devastated and lonely.

The loss of his furry friend led him into a depression. His owners recall that the Golden Retriever simply didn’t understand why Ginger wasn’t in the house anymore and searched for her every day. Forsberg stopped eating normally, didn’t have any energy left and lost his smile.

After being in this depressed state for days and days, his owner Jen decided to try to lift his spirits. Because Forsberg was feeling lonely, Jen brought home a new kitty named Max. Of course, she had hoped that Max would make Forsberg less lonely and hoped that the two would become friends.

When Forsberg and Max first met, the Golden Retriever finally regained his smile.

The pup was extremely happy to have a new sibling again and the two befriended each other almost instantly. Max is a younger cat and has grown quite a bit since he came into the house, but big brother Forsberg doesn’t mind caring for his new friend at all.

The two love cuddling together and can never spend much time apart from each other. Of course, Ginger will never be forgotten and will always hold a very special place in Forsberg’s heart, but the adorable dog was elated that he had a sibling once again.

Max was brought into the family two years ago and his immensely cute friendship with Forsberg is still going strong!
