Just like humans — or sometimes even more than humans — animals have that instinct of protecting each other. Sometimes they actually leave us speechless with their generosity and kind-heartedness.
Like our Dalmatian friend, Thiago, who saved another doggie a few weeks ago.
Thiago is a two-year-old Dalmatian, who lives with his owner and best friend, Rey Caquias. The two met in 2020, and they have been inseparable since.
Caquias, who lives in Puerto Rico, adores his four-legged friend, and the two seem to have developed a special connection.

But, it seems, they were not meant to be just the two of them for long. Life had already planned on adding another member to this company.
One day in early February, Rey and Thiago were outside for a walk. Just when it was time to return home, Rey noticed that his dog refused to leave. Instead, he wanted to go into the woods for some reason.
“He took a detour into the forest. I started calling him, but he ignored me,” Caquias told The Dodo. “That’s when I heard a small bark. Then I looked closely and saw a very scared little puppy.”
The doggo had obviously heard the puppy’s weak bark, and he had probably smelled him, too. He wanted to rescue the little unfortunate creature, and that’s why he tried to notify his human of the little pup’s presence.
Rey saw the puppy and heard his bark. The animal was too thin, and it was definitely extremely scared. It was hidden among the branches, and it just tried to survive.
But the two friends knew that they couldn’t leave the puppy alone. They had to help it somehow.
Rey’s first attempt to take the puppy in his hands was not only fruitless, but it also ended with blood in his hands, since the scared dog bit him.
Finally, the man found a box where he could transfer the abandoned doggie, and it seemed to feel more at ease in there.
Caquias took his new friend home, where he gave it a refreshing bath, fed it, and took it to the vet.
It seemed that the pup was underfed and emotionally traumatized, but otherwise, he looked perfectly healthy.
Only a few days later, when Rey posted an update on his TikTok account, it was obvious that the new friend had gotten the necessary weight, and was healthier and happier than ever.
As for Thiago and Rey? They just can’t get enough of him. They play with him all the time and enjoy every moment the three of them have together.
Caquias is very proud of his Dalmatian for saving a little puppy’s life in his own way.
“I’m thankful for him,” Caquias said. “Thiago is a very kind dog. I would never have seen the puppy if he didn’t find him. My reaction was one of joy and a lot of pride.”
