Getting our dogs to sit still or lie down to cut their nails can be exhausting and nearly impossible. What is normally a manicure for us is like torture to some dogs, and going to the groomer? Forget about it.
A teen named Kendal Peifer has an adorable Boston Terrier that absolutely hates getting his nails clipped. So, her dad came up with a hilariously creative solution.
When Kendal stumbled upon her dad preparing to cut their dog’s nails, she couldn’t help but break out her camera, take some photos, and post them on Twitter – because the dog was suspended from the doorway with a contraption that her dad had built.
Kendal’s dad’s photos were shared with the Twittersphere on February 10th, 2018, and less than a week later, it amassed over 80,000 retweets and 300,000 likes.
The photos quickly spread, and soon, the internet was absolutely obsessed with Kendal’s dad and his strangely brilliant idea. As it turns out, his first step was to purchase a purse, then cut holes in it for the dog’s head and feet.
Once the holes were cut, Kendal’s dad needed to suspend the dog, using the purse as a harness. Clearly, this was a well-thought-out plan, and he just so happened to already have a chin-up and workout bar that hangs in the doorway – perfect!
After the dog was settled, and suspended in mid-air with his purse harness – Dad got to work. Of course, he was fully prepared with a headlamp.
The internet seemed to really love Kendal’s dad’s headlamp.
Of course, people couldn’t help but quote the dog or put him in a meme.
Not sure how Kendal feels about it, but it seems like her dad now has an official fan club.
All the kidding and swooning aside, Kendal’s dad’s clever invention garnered a lot of attention in a short amount of time. Lots of people are wanting to try this DIY-hanging-dog-nail-clipper-harness-thing at home for themselves. Of course, it’s for little dogs only.
Kendal’s viral tweet is below, and she even reached out to Ellen Degeneres about her dad’s genius, and very dad-like, invention – is there a future appearance in the making?
