Being separated from the ones you love is tough. Especially when you’ve slept in the same bed together every single night for as long as you can remember.
Annie Shi and her dog Tara snuggled in dreamland every night until Annie went off to college.
Annie knew that she would miss Tara but she had no idea that Tara would miss her that much more. Even though Annie isn’t too far away and comes homes to visit as often as she can, Tara gets a little blue when Annie is gone.
“I’ve missed her so much but the train ride home only takes three hours,” Annie told The Dodo. “She’s always eager to see me.”
Annie’s parents would always notice Tara kind of sulking outside Annie’s door.
“She misses me,” Annie said. “She has been getting my parents to open the door to my room for her while I’m away.”
This way Tara can snuggle up on the bed like she used to. However, it’s just not the same without Annie there.
She just sorta walks in and walks back out looking sad and lonely.
Annie’s dad caught on to the dog’s routine and kind of felt bad for her. So, he decided he would help keep her company and use his daughter’s desk each day.
“Tara won’t stay in the room if there’s no one with her, so Dad has been working in my room every day,” Annie explained.
Now Tara stays and hangs out on her favorite part of the bed while Annie’s dad works from her desk. The little pup has definitely been less lonely since Annie’s dad started hanging out with her.
But Annie suspects that her dad might not have been completely selfless in his act.
“It might be because he misses me too,” she said.
Since Annie asked her parents to keep her posted on what’s going on in her dog’s life, she got lots of photos showing the newfound friendship between her dog and dad.
Annie makes sure to home when she can to make sure that Tara doesn’t miss her too much.
As it turns out, there are lots of people whose dogs love them just as much!
“That is just so sweet that Tara’s father did that for the dog, Tara and himself. Just precious! That’s a real caring man!” one commenter on Facebook said.
“Will have to remember this when my daughter goes to college. Her dog waits outside the bathroom while she showers. College is going to be HARD on him!” said another.
