Most people consider their pets as part of the family.
When a beloved pet passes away, it can really take a toll on the people who loved it. While nothing can replace the pets that have passed on, sometimes a new pet can help make a person feel better and take their mind off the pet they lost.
When a man lost two of his dogs, Nemo and Lucy, just weeks apart, his family could tell that he was having a really hard time with it. He had always taken such good care of his dogs, and he just didn’t know what to do without them. He seemed to be depressed and wasn’t dealing with it as well as his family had hoped, even after some time had passed.
With his birthday approaching, his daughter, Jaleen, wanted to do something really special for him.
She knew he would put on a smile and pretend to be happy if they had a regular party with cake and gifts. She wanted to make him truly happy. She knew nothing would be able to make him feel better about the loss of his dogs, but she had to try.
Jaleen decided to give him something else to love. She found him a puppy that was much like the dogs he had lost. Maybe a new fur baby to love would help him take his mind off the bad and start thinking about all the good things in his life.
She wasn’t sure how he would react.
Was he ready for a new puppy? Would he want it? Could this puppy cheer him up and fill the void in his heart? She had high hopes but was still a little nervous about the introduction. She hoped for the best.
Jaleen decided to record her father’s reaction to his gift. She didn’t expect what happened, but she had to share it with the world.
Her father wasn’t only surprised by the puppy, he was overwhelmed by a mixture of feelings.
In the video, she gives him the puppy and films as he breaks down and cries thinking about the dogs that passed away. He hugs the new puppy and talks about how he believes it is one of his other dogs coming back in puppy form. He is crying both tears of happiness and tears of sadness.
Jaleen seems pleased with his reaction.
She decided to share the video on Facebook. She wanted her friends and family members to see it but didn’t expect it to go viral. Most people thought the video was adorable and heartwarming. They were happy to see the man get a new puppy to love and care for.
Not everyone agreed. Some people felt that the moment was personal and should have been kept private or only shared with people close to the family. Some commented on the video saying that Jaleen shouldn’t have posted it.
Other people felt like the man wasn’t ready for a new pet.
They thought he should have had time and privacy to grieve over the pets that had died. Of course, the father seems more than thrilled to get the new dog, and that’s all that really matters.
Hopefully, the new puppy, named Lumo, will bring some joy to his life and helped make his birthday enjoyable and memorable. In the end, all that matters is that he is happy, and his daughter feels accomplished in her task to cheer him up. He clearly loves the new pup and is planning on taking great care of it.
