Dogs enjoy the simpler pleasures in life – it doesn’t take much to please them. Give them their favorite toy, food, and some love and they’re as happy as can be. The easy joy that comes naturally to a dog is something we could all learn from.
It’s a fact dogs improve people’s lives – it’s hard to feel grumpy when you have someone who is always happy to see you! It also makes sense that such loyal companions deserve some extra spoils from their humans once in a while.
That’s why these pet parents wanted to do something extra special for their golden retriever, Jolene.
Jolene is an adorable golden who is absolutely in love with her Gumby toy. She carries the little green chew toy everywhere she goes – she is absolutely obsessed with it.
In fact, Jolene loves this particular toy so much that her owners have even bought her a plush version of it to add to her collection!
Jolene is a good dog who deserves something special – her owners wanted to do something even bigger than just buying her another toy for Halloween. So Ben and Emily hatched a plan to give Jolene the best day of her life.
But what could be better than another Gumby toy?
Coincidentally, Ben already had the perfect item to make Jolene’s day.
“Believe it or not, I already had the costume,” Ben told The Dodo.
The video begins with a shot of Jolene, lying in her bed and happily chewing on her little Gumby toy.
Emily giggles wildly in the background as Ben makes his grand entrance.
The camera pans back to Jolene, who immediately notices the giant green intruder and drops her toy. At first, she doesn’t quite know what to make of it.
Of course, it’s Ben. But he’s dressed up as a life-sized Gumby!
Jolene’s jaw drops as she stares at her toy that’s come to life. She stands up and cautiously walks over to the giant Gumby, wagging her tail slowly. She’s clearly a bit suspicious.
She sniffs Gumby for a few seconds, and then she recognizes Ben’s smell. That’s when she loses her mind!
She jumps up onto Gumby and knocks him to the floor while he gives her hugs and nuzzles. Now, she’s wiggling with excitement. She climbs all over him with her tail wagging wildly.
At that moment, she’s realized that the surprise is her favorite toy and her dad – two of her favorite things in the whole world!
Emily and Ben couldn’t have hoped for a better reaction from their adorable dog – and luckily for us, they captured the entire thing on camera!
Ben uploaded it onto his YouTube channel, where it’s garnered more than 42 million views to date.
Jolene was so excited about seeing a real-life Gumby toy that she was still bouncing off the walls for about an hour after Ben decided to take the costume off.
