If you take a dog to Italy, you have to dress him properly. After all, it’s one of the fashion capitals of the world.

Do they even let dogs in without the appropriate headwear?

What a good spot this pup is. He just wants to make his human parent proud.

A little humiliation is a small price to pay, right?

And, frankly, once you get to 5 hats, the effect is totally worth the effort.

You have to have some serious skills (or amazing treats) to get two dogs and a CAT to wear hats and stand still enough for a photo.

They don’t look thrilled about it, but they make just take their hat-wearing very seriously. Who can fault them for that?

Ok, so maybe dogs in birthday hats seems like cheating, but they’re so darn cute that we couldn’t possibly skip them.

Especially since most of them are, like Polo here, posing for photos in hats AND waiting to eat their cake.

This is Frito and he’s obviously a chihuahua wearing a sombrero.

We don’t know anything about Frito’s owners, so we’re gonna chill out when it comes to treading the line here on being culturally reductive.

After all, this is just about dogs wearing hats.

Sometimes dogs enjoy hats. And is that really a surprise when you give them lots of positive reinforcement and take their photos and call them good boys while they’re wearing one?

If it makes you happy, sometimes that’s enough to make your dog happy.

Well, it looks like Athena is more of a fisher with that hat on, but there’s no rule that says she can’t enjoy a swim too.

We couldn’t help but laugh out loud when we saw the quality side-eye this dog was putting out.

We approve of this message, whatever it is.

We’re simply not sophisticated enough to be fully versed in top hat etiquette.

We are, however, impressed that he’s willing to balance it atop his head.

She also knows just how cute she looks and is ready to get lots of awws and chin scratches because of it.

This corgi-chihuahua mix is all ready for a day at the beach.

It looks a bit cloudy, but Captain is smart enough to know those rays come through the clouds as well.

How he feels about the glow stick collar is another matter.

But he did have to sit still while they tied it under his chin, so he is a good sport.

Has every dog worn a cowboy hat at some point? We missed this cultural moment.

Or perhaps they are just the most popular hats made in dog sizes. That raises a whole other series of questions, but we’re not interested in how cute this pup looks.

Rottweilers get such a bad rap, but when they’re treated well by their owners, they can be such sweet companions.

We know dogs don’t smile, but he really looks pleased to be celebrating.

This fine gentleman looks like he’s concerned he might not make the tee time he had set up months ago at one of Scotland’s finest golf courses.

This is Terry and he’s a bit eccentric. He likes to travel by van and looks like he spends his weekends scoping out used book stores and farmers markets in neighboring towns.

If he were a human we would guess he had a lot of canvas tote bags and was into backyard farming.

We’re not entirely sure what this costume is, but he’s wearing it well.

We just hope he’s more pleased than he looks.

After all, it’s Halloween, so the night is supposed to be all about treats, right? Or is he just getting tricks?

Max looks like he goes to the beach to listen to waves before returning home to practice his bass guitar and listen to old blues tunes.

We get it. Sometimes you have the day off and you just want to lounge around on the deck with some pillows and a refreshing drink.

Later, he’s going to sit outside and pretend to read a newspaper for a few hours.
