Sweet cat with the cutest scowl keeps getting overlooked for her “grumpy” face
People actually had the nerve to say she was "ugly."

As the old adage goes, it’s best not to pass judgment on something before you’ve gotten to know it.

Despite knowing this, we tend to overlook this general rule of thumb and get easily swept away with a quick first impression. Sadly, we miss out on life’s greatest experiences as a result of trusting only our eyes.

As many people did with this sweet cat.

That was almost the case for Francisca Franken, who decided to browse the webpage of her local animal shelter one night.

She came across a cat with an unusually droopy look about her.

The kitty’s face had huge, almost gloomy eyes that somehow captivated Franken. Right then and there, she knew she’d have to see her for herself.

“I saw her photo and fell in love the second I saw her,” Franken stated, “Well, at first I laughed because the pictures were so funny and I’d never seen a cat like this before.”

Without hesitation, Franken wrote to the animal shelter to see if the funny-looking cat was available for adoption. The shelter had to follow up with her, but Franken’s need for a response kept her up all night in anticipation.

Finally, the next day, the shelter called her back and was quite surprised she wanted to adopt the cat named Bean.

“I got a call from a friendly lady from the rescue who asked me if Bean was really the cat I wanted to apply for because, apparently, nobody had been interested in her before,” Franken said. “The woman who called me was scared that I just pressed the wrong button or something.”

Bean’s face is no coincidence as he’s had a whirlwind of a life.

The life of a stray is no fun and Bean knows all about it. She lived in the streets by a trailer park where she scavenged and foraged for scraps of food to keep her alive.

After some time, it seems Beans had developed an eye infection and other ailments that have severely crippled her both physically and emotionally.

Thankfully, Franken was here to save the day.

As soon as the two got to know each other, a bond was instantly formed. Franken was incredibly glad that she had made the decision to go meet the shy cat and immediately decided to take her home.

Hopefully, she’s read up on some cat facts to help her along the way!

“A lot of people who saw her at the shelter said she was ugly, but I think she’s the most perfect girl ever,” she mentioned.

“In the beginning, she was much more cuddly and clung to me everywhere I went. I think she then noticed that she didn’t need to ‘pretend’ like that and that I would never let her go again, even if she stopped being cuddly and cute, so she started to show me her sassy side. But I loved that because she let her true colors shine through.”

Ever since that fateful day, Bean remains adorably attached to Franken.

The inseparable pair now do everything together as they can’t seem to stop having fun. Bean sleeps with Franken every night on her bed and has developed an obsession over anything with olives!

“The first time she stole an olive was when I had a little late-night snack and she ran up to me and smacked the olive right out of my hand, scooped it up and ran away to eat it under the couch,” Franken said.

Franken has admitted that Bean isn’t the most lovable, but that hasn’t stopped her from being the best feline mom she can be.

The two are a perfect match and we’re excited to see where their journey goes from here!
